Sachin has 2 "pets" who are commentators, whose job is to take his name with praises-like Sachin giving tips to bowlers Ishant/Harbhajan;or when Sachin runs around and fields, remarks such as"see his commitment"; but when he miss fields and the ball goes for 4, then it is said that he got a bad bounce, but this changes in case of Sehwag and Gambhir to lack of commitment.Infact test cricket in India will be better with his retirement as players will play for the team, and there will be unity, no undue interference in team selection, preference of players from a certain group etc.
Brian Lara was the real Test star just look at his dominating innings while sachin could not even score a dominating double hundred let alone triple hundred, his highest is against minnows bangladesh.

I am talking here of Dominating innings.Entertaining innings like that of Hayden, lara, gilchrist.
many do say one reason they still watch test cricket is Sachin, when he is gone they may not watch test cricket. The generation which is growing up in iPill will never appreciate test cricket.

The topic under question is not whether test cricket will continue to survive or not. The question is how much its demise is correlated with Sachin's absence? I feel not much. There are many other good ambassadors of test cricket, trying to associate larger than life status to him is far fetched...
Arjuna Ranatunga never has had much love lost for India. Now he is playing mind games with the selectors. I do not know if Test cricket will die if Tendulkar retires ... but definitely it will die if he does not ... and soon.
just today morning i was thinking...about quitng watching test cricket when Sachin retires... dont know about others but atleast i will stop watchign tests..
i will follow cricket scores though..but no way i will watch...
On the contrary it will flourish ! Many dashing youngsters who are a treat to watch batting will get an opportunity. He has done immeasurable service to the country by quitting one day format of the game.We have to go by the present form.No body is indispensable. It is a pity that BCCI applies different yardsticks for selecting the team !
