Bring back Jaffer
by rakesh sadhu on Mar 07, 2013 12:35 AM

Mulle, mullion ka saath de rate Hain. Otherwise, these two haven't done anything of note. I saw a few domestic matches and I noticed a clear trend. Umpires were hesitant to give early decisions in favour of smaller teams. And, guess who was the biggest beneficiary of such largesse..???
You got it....... Wasim Jaffer.

Kaif ??????
by Krishan attri on Feb 21, 2013 01:36 PM

Strangely his name is being projected from nowhere as he has not performed even at domestic level & he was never a batsman anyway but a utility player who is well past his prime.GARE MURDE MAT UKHARO,NAI GENERATION KO MAUKA DO.

Why this criees of bringing Wasim Jafer are being heard? Don't we have some new & exciting Openers such as Shikhar Dhawan,Ajinkya Rahane,Unmukt Chand,Jiwanjot Singh who should be groomed & given experience for future.Stop looking back & move forward if you are to build Team India for future.

Gurjot Singh
He had his chances
by Gurjot Singh on Feb 21, 2013 09:59 AM

With 5 centuries and average of 35, should he be included? He is 35 and played around 30 tests. He is past him prime. He played very well in domestic circuit. Should we take him in the team? Probably yes. He will be a good opener.

Wasim Jaffer ? Seriously ?
by Govind Raj Shenoy on Feb 21, 2013 08:48 AM  | Hide replies

All his career, Wasim Jaffer has has treated fielding as an irritant. His test career was less than impressive but for an occasional 100, he was a dud in most outings.

But more seriously... Anil Kumble's preferred No. 6 Mohammed Kaif ? Kumble retired 5 years ago. Kaif has done precious little in domestic Cricket.

We have younger and more successful players in domestic Cricket. Even at the cost of losing another couple of series, the selectors should stick to youngsters. Bring on the nephew Arman Jaffer, no complaints... No Wasim please, not again !

if dadaji can play at 4o , jaffer & kaif are youngsters in comparison, they should also play.

Please look at Kaif's record last two years in Ranji...It's much better than Murali Vijay who got a call up

Murali Vijay is selected as Opener. "Andhon ke gaon me Kana Rajah". Kaif has to compete with Virat, Che, Raina, Yuvi, Sachin, Rahane and a million other middle order batsmen. Openers is a problem and that is why Kaif doesn't fit. Wasim can'tclaim he didn't get chances. He frittered away his chances and the Gambhir and Sehwag did exceedingly well for almost 3 years before the decline started.

Perhaps not....he is good however age is not with him
by Harsh Vardhan on Feb 21, 2013 02:30 AM  | Hide replies

Wasim Jaffer, Age -35 years (February 16, 1978)
Sachin Tendulkar, Age -39 years (April 24, 1973)

Wasim is good. He had his chance. He grabbed some and dropped some. How long is a guy who is 35 yrs old expected to last. If Sachin (who is virtually super human) is not expected to last long? Need to get younger blood tested - with enough rope! Yes, stop giving the same people who have been tested repeatedly cahnce after chance!
