In the first page third line, it should be four "half centuries" and not "boundaries".

Everyone knows Raina & Yuvraj not good enough for Test. Just because Raina getting runs in ODI don't justify his place in Test side. Aussies clearly know how to get him out !

Raina has serious problem in his technique to handle short pitched ball.It will be used in abundance by Aussies & that leaves a big question mark on his selection.

i like wasim jaffer a lot but looking at his age and future prospects of the team, I'd prefer Murali Vijay instead of Jaffer. and no need for amit mishra there...better they play another seam bowler....ishant or varun aaron

Why should u have problem with Zafar who @ 35 is fit when a 40 year old unfit player without runs in kitty for 12 tests is an automatic selection?

because that 40 yr old man is the BAAP of cricket... :) and I'd pay to watch him play anytime of the day....if you love test cricket, you have to love him... he's beyond everything else when it comes to cricket.

Everyone in cricket are susceptible with SHORT delivery. Yes Suresh Raina too was susceptible with this it's that he has to adapt, which im sure he will. But Before Suresh raina what about the openers all three have failed for long time the viru the gautam & vijay. Why cant we look again at Wasim Jaffer he still has good cricket left in him. Everyone talks about his last international innings, for that matter Viru & Gautam have failed miserably at international level. These two guys haven't gone back & played any domestic cricket & Vijay's only innings in Irani Trophy cant be justified. Wasim Jaffer has played consistently well in this years Ranji Trophy & he deserves a call back & he is in good nick & we are playing in India. Having said this I am not against Viru as he is a match winner on any day same with Gautam & Vijay has shown he has class against the Aussies.

Raina should get an opportunity
by Happy Friday on Feb 08, 2013 09:49 AM  | Hide replies

He failed but proving to be good in one day, he just needs to adapt. Against good team but on home ground is the best opportunity for Raina. Hope useless rohit is not selected again!!

I agree. Raina should be persisted as in addition to his excellance in batting, bowling and fielding he has the leadership qualities to lead Team India one day. Rohit, Yuvraj and Harbhajan should not be recalled again.

Felt the same. Even though Yuvi was significant in WC win but he is given too many opportunities in test but failed always. Let him focus on one day series. Bhajji without Kumble does not make any sense.

oh no! not again!! Rain? in test team?? hasn't he proved enough already that, he isn't made for it??? Think beyond Rainas, Rohits, Yuvis and Jadejas... They just do not have it in them to be a middle order test bat... They had a lion's share of opportunities already to prove that too. Give some deserving player a chance who can play here and as well abroad well and score consistently. After just one good knock, people have started talking of a place for him in the test team... how come places are taken for granted for a select few? how come the vested interests in the media start campaigning for certain players in unison and one voice???????? `wish, selectors ignore once in a blue moon performance of these players and look for fresh set of young and deserving players.

This team looks like Rest of India team selected for Irani trophy. Where are Dhoni & Raina? Why Rayudu and Harbhajan? For Test we should have Wasim Zafar as opener to face Aussies. Dinda & Shami are only for ODIs & 20-20s.

What does one say about this article? Goes on to show, how vested interests, biased comments, partisan attitudes make or break one's career. Do not forget Rahane's last few international tally reads,0, 4, 47, 4, 28, 42, 3, 19.... and Raina's test average is in 20s. He made a mere 768 runs in 29 innings. Let wisdom prevail and let not these vested, biased interests influence team selection.....
