The records in cricket are all dubious. No common parameters are considered. No of tests and runs scored in those should be the criteria. But we only see the total runs scored by x, y and Zee shich is questionable.

If somebody has international standard at his Young Age and also if he manages to perform consistently, then he absolutely deserved to be on Top.

sachin is miles ahead of everyone

if sachin was an Englishmen...he would have played 300 test matches in his career and scored 25000 runs...unfortunately BCCI played more one dayers during Sachin's peak years...that is why you should always combine test and one day record...to judge overall record of a batsman...and there Sachin is miles ahead of everyone....

Cook can break most of Sahin's Test Cricket Records

Congrats Cook for this achievement.

In todays Test Cricket Clarke & Cook are the two batsmen capable of breaking Sachn's records but Age is on Cook's side (4 yr younger). If Test Cricket does not die then in 2022-23 we will see Cook with 52 Centuries.

Hmm, Statistically speaking yes. He could break SRT's records. But will he ever get to play another 70-80 tests to do that? Tests are having a slow death and a batsman's form not necessarily will remain in peak for a such a long time. If England is to find captain material in another player, Cook may not even get to play tests, considering his current poor form.

Records are meant to be broken. Only time will tell who actually breaks SRT's records.

Cook has taken 101 tests and 181 innings to score 8000 runs, whereas the fastest to reach there, Sangakara took only 91 tests and 152 innings. Comparatively SRT took 96 tests and 154 innings. Despite being middle order bastmen, these two have reached that mark far quickly then cook who gets more opportunities to bat being an opener. Cook in about 8 years of his career has played 101 test whereas SRT played his first 96 in over 12 years. So if your country is going to play more tests and if you are good batsman, you are likely to reach certain milestones ahead of others. No great secrets here.

Same applies to Sachin's ODI records. Moreover, opening in test cricket is far more challenging than ODI. Some Gavsaskar's average of 51.12 is far superior to Tendulkar's who despite scoring some 35000 runs could not play even one innings which will be remembered after 20 years.

Do you follow cricket at all? The way you express your views, I think you have never seen any matches leave alone played in one. If you have some money go and buy DVD's of the Sand storm matches played at Sharjah in tri series. Then lets see you talk. Till then keep your funny views to yourself. Pleeeeeeeze!1

Openers have to see off the new ball...Cook may be credited for his position of batting. An alternate view. I liked your numbers too :)
