This may be the official world record. But unofficially India-Pakistan test match at Kolkata in 1999 attracted more than 1 lakh people in the stadium. We Indians dont keep the actual count so as to avade tax. Also during many instances, the crowd at eden gardens grew close to 1 lakh.

say instead of two nations test matches more interesting test world cup may be arranged at such extra crowded places say india versus OZ then Africa versus England then india v eng then Africa take ride on OZ so quadragular test series will earn more revenue to stadiums also as in first test at johnsberg attendence was poor as compared to ashes?

Record Attendence at MCG

This is great. The attendance during the Ashes series has always been very good whether in Australia or England. The Boards of these two countries have kept the importance of Ashes by always having a 5 test Ashes Series. They have not compromised on this aspect. That's why Ashes series has commanded the same importance since its inception.
