Cook says teams have duty to play Ashes in 'right spirit'

Which spirit Cook is talking about ? Sportsman spirit perhaps ? Why didn’t Stuart Broad exhibited it when England was winning in England ? When teams start losing then think of it and it is not uncommon to see a losing team become a cry baby complaining about everything on earth! ? What about the other spirit, ‘fighting spirit’ , I mean because the question that is uppermost in everybody’s mind is can England make a comeback after that Ist Test debacle ? That needs ‘fighting spirit’ of course , but does the English have it ? Whether it is the meek throwing in the towel by England’s best bat, Jonatha Trott or the complaining tone on the Aussie the ‘FS’ at least seems to be in short supply. Before start of the series the English were confident of winning the 4th Ashes series in a row but after the Ist Test debacle the English seem to be struggling to put together a fighting XI ! Should just one defeat put off a side which at least on paper is supposed to be a better side? So the whole thing boils down to the English team management and captain Cook being able to motivate the side to put up a better show on a wicket which looks much more benign ,not helpful to Johnson the way Gabba was! It is time for the English to be realistic and instead of dreaming about winning the series must be practical to put up best possible fight and not get humiliated Gabba way !The English biggies like Cook,KP, Ian Bell …will have to t

BTW, Martic Crowe's recovery from cancer never found its way into Rediff.. Too busy on Sachin's articles and Dhoni's ideals?
