ENG WIN THE SERIES BUT AUS WIN THE HEARTS

England with lot of help from rain gods and much more just about manage to win the Ashes series 3-0 after all! The column itself has very well summarized the relative performances of the two sides and individual players. Aus started as ‘no hopers’ but ended on a very confident note which saw Michel Clarke take the bold declaration. May be he overplayed his confidence and could have settled for a more manageable lead of 250 runs minimum that would have not generated the controversy it has on the stoppage due to bad light. However the resurgent confidence of the Aussies was unmistakably there for sure. Young players like Shane Watson, Smith, Rogers etc. have taken big strides towards Test cricket. Aus bowling has been the high points of Ausssies’ game and looked better of the two sides. In fact the score line of 3-0 doesn’t reflect true picture of Aus resurgence post 2nd test inspire of the aberration of sudden collapse of the Aus batting in the last session at Manchester after dominating the test all along. Even at Oval it was Aus who dominated till that rash declaration. Eng on the other hand gave below par performance and should consider themselves lucky to have got away with the 3-0 score line in their favour. Only Ian Bell and KP showed some grit and form. Captain cook was a pale shadow of his usual self in the entire series.Even in bowling James Anderson looked below par. And why is Monty not playing ? Fate of return series in Nov. ? Eng loo

Australia poor test record in recently concluded test series shows that Clark remained failure to regroup the team after Ricky Ponting retirement, his dismal show in India,4-0 and now the same result.
