IPL, the brain-child of Lalit Modi, sharpened the focus on talent within the country. Better pay packets and exposure to international talent contributed immensely to the 'bench strength' that India today enjoys. And there is greater pressure on the players to perform.

It is not the brain of Lalit Modi. It was ICL (Kapil Dev "the Great") which started this League. Lalit just picked up and banned ICL.
