We should and also we must never overhype any average players.. classic eg Rohit sharma as then it becomes a shame for our country only. Let them prove something first then we should taLK about them

Azhar still holds the fastest century by an Indian in both tests(74b) and ODIs(61b)involved in some big partnerships in ODIs good fielder and runner between wickets.Shastri once described as champion of champions can bat at any position can be flamboyant and blocker same time and was a partnership breaker with his left arm spin.

Dhoni is Indian crickets biggest gift. India was without a wicket keeper chronically, India was also without a wise captain chronically with makeshift changes prior to his arrival.

He is a true gift.

Dhoni is the greatest leaders of all time.
by samudra blr on Aug 20, 2013 10:44 AM

Excellent statement from Dhoni, he is a true leader. He has natural instincts of leadership. Management guru's need to learn from him.
The calm and composure he shows on field is excellent. He will never let any emotions take control over him.

Respect every individual who has played for the country
by Sebastian Cherukanam on Aug 20, 2013 08:07 AM  | Hide replies

This statement conveys what he wants to say.

If he selects a team, he has to add Sachin so as to please the pleasers! But if he has to listen to his conscience, Sachin, whose presence was helpful only to build unnecessary pressure in the team and his only interest was always personal records, will never be in the team. If he does, his survival is at risk.

In order to add Sachin, a wrong choice, he has to ignore a better player and that will be a kind of insult to that player.

Therefore, he decides not to select a team and that way respecting every individual who has played for the country.

Sebastian,

I am not sure where the problem is.

Is it in your assumptions or is it with Dhoni's comments.

And for heaven's sake please don't drag Sachin into this.

Dhoni didn't want to open Can of Worms
by N on Aug 20, 2013 07:55 AM  | Hide replies

Do Current Player make Dream Team?
Normally it is job of Retired and Seniors.
Dhoni is smart and got the hidden problems.
If Dhoni create a team...it would open a can of worms as he already had selected Chennai players and we know the selectors, CSK , Sreenivasan etc.

Dhoni
by Shyam Sundar on Aug 20, 2013 02:05 AM  | Hide replies

This man knows how to talk...and selecting a dream team is not going to be worth a penny, and former cricketers just to be in limelight select their teams which anyways is fictitious. And by declining to do this would attract more attention during a time when all the formers queue up to pick their dream team...Dhoni is smart, he knows what to speak and when, he could be of good use to the country if he wishes to enter politics.

Shyam,

I agree with you. Dhoni is wiser and much more matured compared to many of his seniors.

Dhoni has made a very very important comment "we should respect every person who plays for the country." This just shows his love for our country, thats all that matters at the end of the day.

Its not a joke to captain team India and that too win world cups in all formats. We need a captain with a personality to achieve this.

Dhoni is the man who has produced results. He is not an exceptional cricketer but certainly a commendable leader.

Correct He is smart and know what to talk. But Buddy..Just wait an let him retire an then you will different picture.
If he select a team, he will not be abe to justify his selection of CSK players. So he tactfully avoided the question...

N,

Lot of if's in your comment.

So I prefer to live in present and ignore the cynicism here.
