Rajiv Shukla tries to cover up
by on Aug 05, 2013 04:10 PM

BCCI vice-president Rajiv shulka has tried to cover up the major mistake Virat Kohli and team India management done in Zimbabwe. It also shows that not only Kohli albeit entire BCCI set up is envolved in giving step motherly treatment to Rasool , who was well deserved to get a place in XI after India led 4-0. World cup was not at stake had India lost 5th match. But inclusion of Rasool in the playing XI would have of course delighted million of cricket lovers across the country.

People were searching....

People were searching for Crane to open your mouth to check whether or not you have a tongue to speak when the drama was unfolded on the BCCI's affairs, having had messed-up in the hand of its ex-chief, Srinivasan. And now quick to respond on the deliberate exclusion of the brilliant all rounder Rasool from the playing elevan. If he were played, a message would have gone Kashmere that India, indeed, care the as that of any other State of the union. You politicians stand in the way of peace and harmony in the country. Sports & Games should be made bereft of any political touchability.

1) Rasool's inclusion in the Team India itself indicates that we do treat Kashmiris as our brothers.
2) There have been so many instances in the past that a player selected in the team did not get a chance in playing eleven throughout the tour, & Rasool's case shpuld be treated as one of them.
3) In the absense of regular captain Dhoni, new captain was less likely to take risk of loosing any match under his captaincy & depended on the regular ballers - which is quite natural.
3) This was only first tour of Rasool & beginning of his carrier. So he will definitely get to play in future - what is the hurry?
4) politicians must refrain from commenting & creating a divide among team India. Even if you ask Rasool, he also will not mind not getting a chance on his first tour.

You are quick in commenting on exclusion of Rasool but why haven't you opened you mouth for a long time on Srinivasan and have been avoiding the media? The spot fixing 'Gutala' took place under your watch as IPL Commissioner but you quietly quit the post on expiry of the term. You have not taken any responsibility on any issue. Why? Why do you politicians want to dabble in Cricket when you have never held a Cricket bat in your entire life?

dont put pressure on Rassol
by venkatesh rao on Aug 05, 2013 10:13 AM  | Hide replies

By all this unnecessary discussions there will now be immense pressure on Rasool right from the first match that he gets to play to perform. they could have just mentioned that they were hoping to see Rasool but disappointed that he could not play. rather than rambling about who should have played and who not etc.

Selection

Amit Mishra was on the verge of topping the bowling charts for the series. Ravindra Jadeja has had a fabulous year and was on the verge of becoming the No 1 One Day bowler. Dropping them would have been unfair to them at this stage. Having a third spinner would have upset the team balance.

Rajiv Shukla silence critics on Rasools exclusion
by P S on Aug 05, 2013 09:16 AM  | Hide replies

Who is Rajiv Shukla to comment anything about the team selection ? The person who has not played any serious cricket at the higher level has absolutely no right to say anything in this matter. The captain and the manager has only right to select the team and no one has any right to interfere in their selection of the team. Where was Omar Abdullah were many players were in similar situation in the past and suffered like Rasool. If Kashmir enjoy special status doesnt mean that the players representing Kashmir should also given a special status and treatment. The selection should always be on merit and no politicians should allowed to interfere in the matters relating to the selection of a national team.

Rasool's exclusion is a small issue though the poor guy should have been given one match atleast. Omar is upset. But we don't see the CM taking any steps or being serious in trying to get the Kashmiri Pandits back into the Valley. His father Farooq also is responsible for all the mess in the BCCI along with Srinivasan being a member of BCCI and not speaking up for what is right. When he did speak, he put his foot in his mouth by saying you can get a meal for Rs 1.

Rasool's exclusion from matches
by ramaswamy sunderrajan on Aug 05, 2013 08:52 AM

If people who do not know cricket speak like this one can understand. It is sad that the CM of J&K for his chauvinistic comments. He should be a statesman even in blogs tweetings etc.
It is not the first time that a player selected for the Indian team for the first time, goes on a tour without getting an opportunity to play in matches. No CM made this an issue so far. Why should Section 370 confer a special status for Kashmir cover this also.
Mr Shukla should be commended for putting the issue in perspective

Free hand
by s d on Aug 05, 2013 02:14 AM

Team Management should have a free hand.
It must not be blackmailed by any politics.
If Rasool is a good player, he will shine and get chances in future.
Sports must not be the victim of reservations and regionalism.

Bogus victory AND bogus explanation
by netizen netwala on Aug 05, 2013 01:28 AM

Relishing a victory on minnows is no achievement. Had it been any other team, they would experimented their bench. Whats the use of the useless victory in match 3 and 5?? Who cares? It was important to give exposure to the bench be it any player on the bench rather than win matches 4 and 5 against minnows. Useless..

Inexperience of the captain, management and team selection shows by not giving chance to newbies.

As, it is, the result is a foregone conclusion playing against teams like Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, etc etc.
