The KING ....
by Dire Straits on Apr 26, 2013 02:50 PM

Viv was known as the 'KING' for a reason. Among all the batsmen since World War II, only Sobers and Sachin can lay claim to be as good or maybe marginally better than Viv.

For me, the best batsmen since World War II are -

1. Garry Sobers
2. Viv Richards
3. Sachin Tendulkar

virat is like punter not like viv really
by Salil on Apr 26, 2013 04:40 AM  | Hide replies

considering the below ...Virat is mroe like ponting

gutsy
on field aggression and arrogance
captaincy material
quality of strokes (not too elegent but effective)
batting strike rate
passionate and emotional

when viv used to walk to bat...it literally used to scare the shit out of everyone...
he used to walk to bat as if its a walk in the park....
cool composed smileing chewing a gums and used to go slam bham..dhoom..match over
never saw him sleding or letting his cool

i dont know what really made viv compare himself to Virat...looks like viv has not seen enough of virat or heard his on field magic words yet!

Some professionals excel in a "nothing to loose" kind of situation. Some professionals excel in "everything to loose" kind of situation.

I think the cultural background plays a very important role in one's method of aggression.

John McEnroe, SRT, Viv Richards, Virat Kohli are classic cases.

Dhoni has the tact to get results. Saurav has the tact to motivate players. These are specific qualitites which are based on individual personality and background in general.

Viv is not blind. With his kind of experience I am sure he has certainly seen something common in himself and Virat. After all they are generations apart least to mention.

That's a big complementary
by Happy Friday on Apr 26, 2013 02:17 AM  | Hide replies

Richards is a legend in cricket and one cannot ask for a better motivation in career than to get these words from the best. Kohli has to justify Richards with his sincere contribution to the game
