what else can we expect from Mr. shah rukh khan, a cheap drama, full of cheap item numbers. If this is Indian Paisa LEAGUE THEN WHY DON'T WE SHOW INDIAN CULTURE & Trdaditions? why we feel so happy after watching these cheap item numbers. are they so called hero/heroins, dancing on the tune of money, will not think beyond cheapness. even a rickshaw pullar/manual laborer doing better then these so called hero/heroins because they justified with their jobs & they are more honest then this elite society.

Show must go on !!

It is pure economics. IPL provides employment opportunities to thousands of people, which is a good thing. But every opening ceremony is driven by Bollywood performances which reflects the cultural bankruptcy we have in India. I wish there were better non-Bollywood performances. Another point is the conflict of interests. BCCI head is owner of CSK, so rather than shifting matches out of Chennai, Sri Lanka players cannot play in Chennai. Quite convenient for CSK boss !! Weird thing is that nobody complains. Team managements are scared to speak up because they can go Deccan Chargers way if they speak up. SRK runs KKR and makes money for performing at opening ceremony as well. Again, it is alright, no question asked.

But reason is easy to say about non-Bollywood performance, but from where they get the audience. Either people like you or me will see this performances...

There is always a first time. We should not underestimate taste of the audience. I recorded the event on DVR and ended up watching it in fast forward mode. Saved me lots of time. I did see some politicians/celebrities like Arun Jaitely cringing/feeling embarrassed watching these crappy Bollywood performances on cheap songs.

IPL Opening Ceremony
by Bharat on Apr 03, 2013 12:17 PM  | Hide replies

Saw it yesterday on tv . Frankly speaking it was looking so cheap with bollywood heroines dancing on cheap third class item numbers - with even more cheap & low standard lyrics ( sheela ki javani,Chinki Chameli ...yak).Think why do we crticize politicians when they arrange something like this during their campaigians for their supporters (nautanki etc.).
Everyone was in a hurry , half baked - poorly organized and coceptulazied show , heroines performing on poorly choreographed numbers half heartedly -( see deepika's footage).
Overall it there was no link between event and ceremony - it was not like opening ceremony of a sport should be - still media going overboard in praising it one can understand the reason very well - no days in India don't think you need to explain such things..

yes, it is cultural bankruptcy !! Cineyug or Morani brothers organize these events and they do not know the difference between a sporting event opening ceremony and a typical Bollywood paid awards shows !!
