As usual Simon is following the Aussie way of retiring from Cricket when on a 'High' on his Career. Great Aussie way to Sign off on a high!!! Wonderful umpire. Would be missed by the Cricketing world.
He is the best of the best umpires in the world and 41 is too early to retire..
I, think he should give atleast another 6-10 years before he retires from active umpiring and them then take up training.
I have TV umpiring, except for runouts and stumpings it should not use for any other purpose. TV umpiring takes out the suspense, thrill out of the game which comes with human misjudgement.
Never argues with anyone. no friendly talks or shows.. Just doing his job perfectly. A great loss to cricket. Hope he will take a break and come back. As the good umpires are a very few now.
Hey Simon, will miss you. Cricketer's had a reverence for you, they trusted your decision. Every moment you umpired, I knew false appeals would go down. You are one of a million in a cricket field. All the Best Simon.
what i personally feel.games are intresting when there is discipline and sports players follow rules.it is umpires and television which are making things intresting.the umpires are not partial no matter who wins the match.there is total professional enviornment.since 1992 when india made first tour of south africa third umpire system was started.there were many decision made wrongly during 1992 wc including when peter kristen was given not out of sachins bowling during wc 92 match in australia which forced introduction of 3rd umpire.since than television played important role in giving decision to give player out or not out.simon taufel won many awards as umpire of the year.good luck for his second innings.
