super8 tactics for india
by rdanlal on Sep 25, 2012 07:30 PM

ben hilfenas may jump in against india coz of experience & as pitches have changed towards slower side.india should wary of him & staarc score as much as possible even run a ball will do. Not a bad idea to attack with both bhaji & ashwin with more fielders inside circle when mike hussey is there. He is one guy will score quickly like a slow poison you never know suddenly score board will be scary.

shewag has to be there in all 3 super8 matches irrespective of his injury, form. AUS never had problem with legspin so rule out piyush against aus game & have 2 offie ashwin to bowl in first 6 overs along with zak & pathan like zak, ash, pathan, ash in that order from first over. yuvi is blackhorse in these critical games, so promote him up in batting order say 3down even he doesn't score in brisk rate will help against pak/sa games, more he middles, treat to watch those golf shot/flick over deep mid-wicket.

INDIA READY FOR THE CHALLENGE
by damodaran mohan on Sep 25, 2012 04:39 PM

So Dhoni, the great Gambler gambles away to glory yet again ! !His experiments with some truth and some half truths clicks and clicks in grand style for sure. Only thing was the Indian win gets overshadowed by Turbanator’s media hyped “comeback”, even if it is a one match wonder for now. Not taking away any credit for his inspired spell of flight and bounce not seen for long , Bhajji must also be thankful to his English friends for the poor application. Even Piyush Chawla , more famous for his ‘lucky charm’ than spin bowling also joined the party and had a brilliant spell. Result, a somewhat subdued and doubtful looking India suddenly looks rejuvenated and ready to take on the best sides to regain the trophy won in 2007. The defending Champions on the other hand who went into the game as favourites had to bite dust. Although it was a dead rubber but the performance could affect the English side in the next group matches while Dhoni is relaxing with multiple options now. The 6-5 combo doesn’t look all that deficient now with three spinners choice looking a serious propositions by the experts. Sehwag to sit out in that case ? Could be. Dhoni might try 6-5 against Aus and SA. Against Pakistan, 7-4 combo looks best. But there can’t be any ambiguity that the side can accommodate only two pacers including Pathan and minimum two spinners in all matches.

Raw deal to India due to incomprehensible seeding system
by Sachin Joshi on Sep 25, 2012 12:10 PM  | Hide replies

Super Eight Group F will now have India, Australia, South Africa and Pakistan. And the other group will be England, New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka. This is absolutely wrong. The winners of each group should have faced teams in second position as normally happens. Shows how intelligent the ICC members are. If India had come second and then went to a tough group, it would be understandable. Now England goes to the easy group.

Worries for Dhoni!
by ashutosh pathak on Sep 25, 2012 09:01 AM  | Hide replies

Now that Bhajji has fired, what happens to the other offie Ashwin? With Sehwag injured, who would open the innings specially since after Pathan's failure to exploit the opportunity provided to him? Zaheer his main pace bowler is out of touch, Pathan and Balaji are slowly getting their confidence back but they surely have a long way to go, Dinda's the new kid in the block and Chawla?? well, he's a gamble and I would think Ojha is a better bet than Chawla. Clearly the worries seem endless for Dhoni and coming up with the playing eleven for the super eight match is going to be very crucial. If Dhoni fails and looses the match, he's surely to be criticized for his team selection and if he wins (which we all pray he does) then he would have to stick with the winning combination and any further experimentation will only land him in more trouble 'cause the stakes will be much higher in the semis and the finals. Let's Dhoni's midas touch continue to work and as Kohli - the man with the golden touch mentioned, they need to win this one for UV..

Pathan failure? - he is the one who provided the platform with early wickets and you say he is a failure
