Indian fast bowling
by MeetFireWithFire on Sep 21, 2012 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

India NEVER in their 80 year cricketing history had fast bowlers (including Kapil Dev) with bowling average of less than 25. Infact we have become a wrong case study in 2011 World Cup where we won with only batting prowess.

It is so disappointing to see our so called spear-head (Zaheer) failing oflate more frequently. Typically Indian fast bowlers come to the scene with resonably good pace (at least 140kmph) and then fade away citing line and length. Bowling good line and length in sub-continental conditions at 120 kmph is useless.

It is so heartening to see Kallis (37 years) bowl at better pace than any of our current Indian lot. I would go as far as saying that Kallis is the greatest ever cricketer (even greater than Bradman who only had one skill and Sobers who was good but kallis better with satistics) to play the game.

We are able to produce tons of Virat Kohlis but no Malinga or a Bree Lee.

People would come with a pathetic myth that Indian pitches are responsible for us not producing initimidating fast bowlers. Should this be the case, how come Srilanka and Pakistan have better fast bowlers than India???

I agree that Kallis is the best player of all-time. As far as Indian bowling is concerned, it is worse than Afghanistan. Batting is slightly better but not as good as Pakistan, Australia, England and South Africa.

Why do only bowling make cricket great for Indians? Case of sour grapes? Then why don't people outside India complain on their batting.

It is because it is only bowling which could take 20 wickets for winning a TEst...

People outside INDIA need not complain as teams such as Australia and South Africa could be competitive anywhere in the world unlike us who meekly surrendered in England and Australia. The so called famed batting lineup could play well only in flat conditions and if we look at history “INDIA NEVER had great fast bowlers”. It is a sad fact that INDIA has only batting skill and that too would work only in INDIA.
