My previous writing was censored. The PVP group does not invest of their own money. It is people's amount in share. Talking about IPL, let the betting be only 10 cr or so. Each team does not worth more than it. What is there in the team? What assets are there? Each player can be paid about Rs. 1 lakh per match and plus some performance bonus. If the player wants, let them play or sit on their fanny in the home. BIg money, big bettings, big scams. will this ever end?

If this is cost of 1 IPL team, multiply it with 9 for the 9 teams and you get 4500 Crores!!!! now safely add another 1000 crores for the money various players get and say another 500 crorers for organising the event, the total goes to 6000 crores! Entires nations poverty and all pending delevopment projects could be finished with that money. But we are wasting it on cricket! No wonder we are backward.

Really? Entire nations poverty and all pending development projects can be finished with Rs 6000 crores?
Lets do some basic math: There are 120 crore people in India. That means each person will get 50 bucks. That will finish off poverty??
Development projects? An average 6 lane concrete highway costs 5-6 crore per kilometer. 6000 crore will give us roughly 1000-1200km of modern highway. Say Delhi-Kolkata. That will make us a developed country?
Lets take power plants: 1 MW of thermal power plant costs roughly 5-6 crore. So Rs 6000 cr will give us a 1000-1200MW thermal power plant. India needs 50-70,000 MW of power in the next 5-6 years to remove power shortage.
I agree that IPL is rubbish and an extravaganza for the rich and conceited people, but the 6000 crore will solve nothing.
By that token 180,000 cr coal scam and 176,000 cr 2G scam and 50,000 cr CWG scam would have made us the most prosperous country in the world if the money was recovered.

Good response. I don't know how dose IPL teams get the money, but surly poor people may not be contributing to them.
Where as all Mantries are surly looting poor people's money.
I think IPL is bad more to the heath of good internation players than viewers.

Good intentions Riya but if there is NO IPL, there is NO 6000 Crore either. Revenues come from ticket sales, television rights, Sponsorship. NO IPL means I keep the ticket money, Television shows some saas-bahu serial (no TV rights money) and sponsors look somewhere else. Bigden Bigden, good point, 6000 crore wont make the nation developed but it can get us Rs 6000 crore closer to being developed. However NO IPL, NO 6000 crore, NO discussions :)

Good points by Syed and Bigben. IPL represents created value, not diverted money. I have heard this argument of poverty and under deveoped country even while launching satellites or space missions. The argument holds no water.
kings xi.. not in good health deccan chargers.. suffering royal challengers bangalore.. future unsure except for 2-3 teams most look shaky and wobbly and add viewer n player fatigue
