No Shocking
by Tukka Master on Sep 12, 2012 04:51 PM  | Hide replies

There is no reason to get shocked for bowling first. As usual, fixer dhoni had everything planned. On Chennai wicket for T20 match, only a fixer can opt to bowl first.

He must have got a fabulous amount for losing the match. Most cricket matches are fixed.

This is why he promoted himself ahead of Rohit/Manoj to make sure that India looses the match

MSD was right.....
by SR Hari on Sep 12, 2012 03:23 PM  | Hide replies

I feel Dhoni was right in his decision. He certainly knows about MAC pitch better than the Kiwis and there was the threat of rain also with D/L method likely to take over.

If we observe closely, I feel, the loss was more due to Yuvi. While I welcome him, the braveheart, to Intl cricket, it was because of him India must have lost about 8-10 singles in the last 5-6 overs. Ball was coming slow in the latter part of the match, unexpectedly (which was conceded by both MSD and the Kiwis) and only boundaries are to be dependent on, with Yuvi unable to run twos ot threes. He knew it, MSD knew it and even the NZ was capitalising on this fact and choked the Indian run chase.

I have no regrets on loosing the one-off match but it certainly gives us an idea where Yuvi stands as of today. Team management can certainly plan his inclusion / non-inclusion accrodingly now.

dont blame yuvi, he played his part well, blame dhoni for playing slow, having SR below 100, not fair to blame yuvi, yuvi is not completely fit, but he played his part lot better than dhoni, blame dhoni dude for playing slowly even though they had wicket in hand . . .

after kohli was out and pitch getting slower and difficult to hit....dhoni made 22 runs in 24 balls and yuvraj made 15 run sin 17 balls...incidentally until pitch was playing well and not yet getting slow yuvraj had made 19 runs in his first 10 balls..

Why did Dhoni promote himself and came ahead of regular batsmen? Whenever he does that, the team loses in T20, whether it is CSK or India! Most likely he had already fixed the match. You can not just scratch around and say pitch is slowing down. With wickets in hand, he could have tried big shots. See the replay, so many deliveries he was just defending and commentators were saying he takes time to settle!

The main and root cause of defeat is the failure of MSD, who had watched the yesterday game , certainely they will be having same thinking which I had.

yaar, dhoni and franklin both conceded that the pitch slowed down and run making was difficult. That was a surprise to all. No question of stretching to last over / ball. I disagree with your view.

You are correct! He is now a bit over confident as he had clinched some close victory in the last year IPL. But he has to understand that everyday it's not possible to cross the line in the final over!!

Good decision by Dhoni
by mang on Sep 12, 2012 03:10 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni's decision was right. It is better to put the team to stress tests like these before the Worldcup matches. Every one knows that team batting first at Chennai has good chances of winning, but it is better to try winning the match batting second. They almost pulled it out..

Remember Azhar did the same stress test in 1996 WC Semis when everybody knew team batting first had distinct advantage! It does not matter whatever is the reason given, both had same motive!

saurav, u and other fans may feel that way....but finally the players and captain and management take the decision...and if the semis was fixed then nearly all had participated in the fixing....because it is well known by now that only siddhu was the of the opinion that we bat first while all the rest wanted to bat last...

Rediff, I guess there is a difference between 'Shocked' and 'Surprised'...When I read the article, I was surprised to see that no where Franklin mentioned that his team was shocked by Dhoni's decision!!
