Not correct swansong
by BadriPrasad Nagoji on Sep 05, 2012 10:50 AM

It is obvious. All good things have to have end. It ends happily if the things happen at right time. If delayed it will be a sad ending. The same thing is happening with all these heros. They have overstayed their potential.

He just failed in one series. Still I felt had he and tendy managed the last session in First test well, the series would have been different in Aus.
Anyway Dravid is as dignified to step down immediately just by that one series failure of his. We will hard find his class. But ya to look from other angle, it may be that he wl play ofr max another 1 yr or 2 yr. So eventually we wud hv to find his replacement. Just 1 yr in advance. Thats it.

You are right in that the battle was still even in the first Test in Eng & Aus.

Dravid never really failed and was the leading scorer in Tests in 2011. He could have played back into the team and extended his career by 1-2 years! What I felt was that Drvid could have bounced back strongly given his discipline. But it was not easy to maintain the fielding standards. That is why he could have taken that decision suddenly.

Its high time Tendya retires from ODI, focus on Tests. And Zaheer,Raina should be dropped with immediate effect. Mr jogger Zaheer is just surviving on over hype. And Raina, entire cricket fraternity knows why he is still in team inspite of poor record in last 12 innings

In a way right. He is not good for Test matches also. Partly because the passion to win is missing. He is more concernd about his form and record unfortunately. Looks for laurals as ever.

Anyway nothing wrong abt it. But thats not good for Indian Cricket. He should make way for newer lots.

Raina is absolutely useless for Test. Dont know why they give chances for such technically wrong batsman in Test matches. Gambir is equallly bad in technique. Both are ok for T20 and Limited overs. Surely Not Test.

Sehwag shld also be told to step down from Test. He hold indiffernet form always and crack faster sometime to be on limelight.

We need 2 good openers, May be ask Ashwin to open in Test. He used to open in Ranji and Firstclass matches. His technique is also nice.
Rohit shld come for Raina or Gambir. good player for Test.

Badri to be one down or 2 down to replace Tendulkar (only in position).

Murali your analysis is slightly off the mark where Badri is concerned. He is just not Test material as he does not have the class to excel at this level of cricket. He is a brilliant fielder & will be good for one days but sorry not for Tests.

Also Ashwin needs to look at the number 6 slot but is not ready for it. He cannot be an opener & lead off spinner. But if he can develop himself into a good no. 6 then India will get some fine balance in its team. It will provide the opportunity for another bowler as India is operating with 4 bowlers currently. This combination was fine for NZ but against Oz & Eng we have to 5 top class bowlers. Else we are doomed.

Its High Time Tendya retires from all forms. May be good for T20 as its only 20 overs or max 40 overs if he bats through.
Surely his stamina wont support now.
Let him take up Batting coach job if he is still passionate about cricket.
