Let him continue his good work in bowling. If too much pressure on him to be an all rounder, he may end up like Irfan Pathan.

hehehe. disillusioneddonkey Vaidya knows only to pick out words and give his own meanings.

231 runs scored in 14 innings (ODI) and with bowling figures of 170.4-4-1015-25 is also due to fitness and injury?? BTW, they are stats just before he was dropped from the team. By the way, even Harbhajan was out of the team during England series, surprisingly with the same reason :)

231 runs in 14 innings is not really so bad for somebody who comes low down the order...any break up of his batting position? otherwise those stats are understandable...:)

similarly 25 wkts. in that no. of matches is also ok....you expect he should take 100 wkts. in odis in that many matches? and well there will be failures also intersperesed with success...just check the no. of mom he has...he has helped us win many times....

Look at his bowling figures during that year, you will see an increase in the bowling avg from 27.8 to 40.6. Batting avg dipped from 24 odd to 17 or 18. With the phenominal rise of Yuvraj Singh and bowlers like Praveen Kumar/Ishant Sharma on the rise, I guess it was fair to drop Irfan Pathan. But yes, I would love to see him in the team, bowl those lovely swinging deliveries and get some useful runs as well.

Coming back to the point of Ashwin, I only wish to emphasize that though it is a realistic option, it is too early to say Ashwin is an allrounder.

I had the honour of watching our ashwin live on cricket. from what I was he is the most popular cricketer after Dhoni. he is a true gentleman. the ball which he foxed james franklin was a treat to watch. there was madness for ashwin among the spectators.
hats off to the young man. hope u will beat fellow tamilian muralidharan records.

why aswin
by sitansu padhi on Sep 02, 2012 10:16 PM  | Hide replies

when kumble came, every body said, what a bakwas bowler. he will not click. he went on playing, improving his game, became best bowler, highest wicket taker and a solid captain of india beating australian team on their home soil. as long as aswin wins matches for india just enjoy it. we want india to win. whoever plays doesnot matter. is sachin winning any matches for india single handedly for the last 15 years.

No news on Nehru Cup Final
by Bhaskar Choudhury on Sep 02, 2012 10:06 PM

no website including rediff are posting updates on the Nehru Cup Final which India has won just now. Such a shame that we are only happy when we are in winning position against minnows in a sport played by only a handful of countries, rather than winning in football against much stronger and mightier opponents.

Very soon Assswin will be out...
by Adaksh AA on Sep 02, 2012 10:05 PM  | Hide replies

He is the biggest burden on the Indian team...
Even the greats of the likes of Kumble, Bedi, Prasanna, Ganguli, Kapil Dev have said in clear words that Bhajji shud be in the Indian team at any cost.

Prasanna, when asked on Assswin's future, said in clear words... Its a temporary phase wherein world teams have not faced Asssswin... Once he is read as a bowler, he will be out soon.

Nobody said that at any cost Harbhajan should be there in the team. Dont fool. They simply say that he should not be ignored for a long time. How Ashwin is burden to the team?. He scores more than Tendulkar and take wickets( more than 5 a match). Tendulkar is a burden now a days. Even in Australia he was not among wickets, but he scored one fifty and 30s couple of time when established stars like Dravid, Laxman and Tendulkar failed. Gambhir ,Sehwag also failed. Simply dont blabber. I find so many north Indians are very much biased against People like Ashwin. If he takes wicket ,he takes wickets against weak team. If he scores run , it will be against weak team. If he performs consistenty, he will be read in due course and soon will be out. So long as he performs he will be in the team , if he doesnot he will be dropped. But your Bhajji without any real performance ,was kept in the team for more than 3 years.

Do you understand the word " Flat track bullies"? It is used to refer performance of Batsman (Sub continent wickets). You are referring bowler performance.
