Simon will now train upcoming umpires hope the new ones coming will be as good as him. It helps as trust and respect between umpires and players are of utmost importance
He is probably the greatest umpire I've seen. If he is umpiring, I don't think twice about the decisions because he is spot on all the time. Even players don't get disappointed because they trust him and respect him.

He was one of the few umpires who would back his instincts and not go needlessly for 3rd umpire review on run outs. almost every time he was right

Simon was superb. the best instance i can recall was India Pak SF 2011 WC. Each and every decision in such high intense game was spot on. the lbw given off left arm pacers from both sides was 100% right as was shown by pitch maps etc. Ravi Shastri and Mark Nicholas highly appreciated Taufel in that game
Hats off to Taufel for his outstanding career as an ICC umpire. The cricketing world will miss him a lot. I am a huge fan of Taufel & Billy Bowden. Miss u taufel......
An officer and a gentleman. That's Simon Taufel. Always a picture of poise and dignity. One of the best umpires the game has seen. Its not everyday you see an umpire rise to the level of super-stardom. Mr. Taufel did. Thank you for your services!
