No doubt, Pointing is/was a great batsman but a very bad sports man. He is not a model cricketer, who set an example with his behavious like Brain Lara, Steve Waugh,Rahul Dravid. Quantity wise, he might have won many matches as captain for Australia but quality wise there is no comparasion with Steve Waugh's captaincy.

i do agree with this. Pawar is a politician and he knew how to deal with Australian team. More than Ricky ponting, steve waugh was a great leader.
Poting was unceremoniously thrown out of a Kolkata bar in 2001 for creating a ruckus. The infamous Sydney test where he claimed a catch in half volley at silly point and the Clarke catch fo Dada at slips is still fresh in mind.
in a way it was good. it brought Bhajii's & separately gauti,s aggression to the for. It was the only time that opposition got better of him in aggression , sledging & goondaism.
Shouted at Srinath after being hit in the helmet inspite of Srinath apologizing to him. Gave Sourav Ganguly out after Michael Clarke had seemingly grounded the catch. Appealed for a caught behinds on his own catch in the same match which were clearly grounded and the list goes on....
In short he was a great batsman found wanting in sportsmanship.
Ponting was rude cricketer no doubt but I was happy to see him pushing corrupt Sharad Pawar off the podium. Look at Sharad Pawar holding the trophy as if he was Aussie captain. Australian players were desperate to hold the trophy and this corrupt politician stood there like an insane. Ponting did the right thing by pushing Pawar.
Great cricketer but the third class filthiest human being.
It's funny how we Indians quickly forget everything and first in praising those who always stood against our interest and did all they could to stab us down..
On cricinfo, majority of comments praising Poning, are from Indians..
Pawar didn't do or say anyhting about the rude boorish behavior of the Ozzies, in his own country, and he the Federal Minister to boot. Why, you ask?? Because he was desperately angling for the TOP ICC job, and didn't want to ruffle any feathers, so he did as in the book "She stoops to Conquer".
a gr8 cheater & y not the incident of sydney test most partial test of cricket history when he had given his word against sourav ganguly fully knowing that clark had taken it from ground
