What is the Big Deal??? Ponting was just a Good aussie player!
by Saaani Mrichie on Nov 29, 2012 09:07 PM

Shame that indian media and some vested interests are doing the sachin-bashing for helping some vested interests! Shame Indians are so good in pulling down their own heroes and legends and a player like Sachin comes only once in 500 years, perhaps???Get some reality checks, folks!Ponting is nobody compared to our legend Sachin for the simple reason that Sachin had to face the fiery bowling of aussies and other countries too and still score 100 centuries! while Ponting or Bradman had the privilege and good lcuk of NOT facing the fiery aussie pace attack and they had the added luxury of facing indian bowlers and score centuries as they want! Further all the umpires were very kind to all white skinned players and very cruel with Sachin and coloured players and so many times Sachin has been given out wrongly ba bad umpiring decisions too! Hope all world and cricket fans will realize now why Sachin is greater than Bradman and Ponting and Others!

No mater what you guys say in praise of this cricketer but he has spoilled bratt of Australian cricket. I would say he was never fit to be a captain it was his sheer luck to have such a strong team which made him successfull. Sorry to say but he will be more remembered for his arrogance and lack of sportsmenship.

Agree. Captain has responsibilities and he did not provide good example for his team mates. Border was better.

Ponting's Innings
by Sivaraman on Nov 29, 2012 06:49 PM  | Hide replies

A great Batsman in the last two decades who has contributed immensely to Australian and World Cricket.
Small indiscretions are to be ignored in any person who has such a contribution to the game. All this is on the spur of the moment, due various pressures on the Players in any sport.
Lets all heartily APPLAUD as he will walk into bat in the next game.
He has kept the old saying "why and why not" as he is leaving the game.
We should all wish him the very BEST in life in the years to come.
B.Sivaraman

my dear " why and why not " reagrding ponting is not applicable. see how he struggled against SA attack in this series. i think australia cricket board was generous enough to let ponting play the final test. tough he failed and helped handing over win to SA. why u people continue to think " ghar ki murgi dal barabar"/ keep in mind ponting was not a gentleman cricketer. do u want to refresh ur memories about india tour of aus 2008. when u hav warne and mcgrath then ur 50 will be a match winning score rather than 200 with srinath, zaheer, prasad and kumble on true pitch

I feel he is quick to own up and apologise for his misdeeds. We had one who admonished his captain for declaring the inings when he was short of a landmark and the captain later said what transpired will never be revealed. We are all human and even cows have their moodswings! And cricket has ceased to be a gentleman's game when marketing took over the reins! We are led by them, just pawns dancing to their tunes!

Right about what? Cricket is a gentlemen's game. Gentlemen will never say Ponting was right about these incidents.
