by salil verma on Dec 03, 2012 04:13 PM

He is the true hero and his greatness can be uderstood by the fact that he could able to prove himself as the best in Aussie team when there were some of the great player in cricket history were there[Gilcrist, Hayden, Shane warne, Mcgrath]...
He is the real Don for Aussie....

Endless discussion & Endless comparision
by Pradip Kulkarni on Nov 30, 2012 10:38 AM

Many players played and retire but this 'Tingu' creating big problem and confusion to elders, youngsters and probably kids the reason is only that he is extending his cricket life had he been retire before five years he would have been 'Don' for all but now bcoz of extension all three generations talking about him and obivously every one having right to give his own views hence lot of contraversies comming forward my generation openion must be related with his long carrer as if he is doing some type of job want to settle in that perticular field for ever.Compairing 'Punter' with that he agreed that he have not been doing well from last one year and wants to quit Ricky's dicision will give chance to youngeater and will boost his mates to give sincere efforts and abou SRT it will hit adversaly to Indian cricketers & they will continue sticking policy forever.... Ricky is good batsman and graet acheiver Finally tell me friends Who named Ricky as 'Punter'????

thats rubbish... Sachin was the second highest scorer in the last world cup.. by far the highest scorer for India.. the winner as you know is the team that scores more runs.. the technique matters more than anything else.. and no one comes even close to Sachin on technique.

what do you mean by match winner? Score all the Runs? or Score all the Runs and Take all wickets? is cricket not a team game, were there should be 11 Players?

Match Winner get Man of the Match award after that match, right? Then why Ponting Didnt have more MOM awards than sachin? I am not asking about the total count. I am just asking the 'Avg' of Man of the Match Awards.

Dont do blah blah without knowing the truth. Just a Request only

May 2012 Times issue in USA
by Anita on Nov 30, 2012 02:00 AM  | Hide replies

Times- USA (who are illiterate in Cricket) had a 6 page article on why Tendulkar is the Best Athlete in the world on May Issue:
Every sport has record breakers, but of his contemporaries, only Michael Jordan, Lance Armstrong and prescandal Tiger Woods come anywhere close to matching him in redefining the realms of possibility. Leo Messi may be the best soccer player on the planet, but he has Cristiano Ronaldo nipping at his heels; Tendulkar leads his closest challenger, Australia's Ricky Ponting, by a staggering 29 centuries.

Even more impressive is Tendulkar's record as top scorer in both of cricket's main formats--the exhausting five-day tests and the intense one-day internationals. Usain Bolt would have to win the marathon as well as the 100 m at the London Olympics to approach that level of achievement.

It's a miracle he can get there at all. Of Tendulkar's many achievements as a cricketer, perhaps the most difficult is the one he must repeat every time he bats for India: carrying the hopes and dreams of an entire nation on his back. It is the heaviest burden borne by any modern sportsman, and his ability to carry it for more than 22 years while utterly dominating his sport makes a good case that Tendulkar is the world's greatest athlete.

To whom you are trying to educate? Those people, who says they are Indians and will bring Bradman, Vivian Rechards etc (They didn't even saw a single match of theirs) in their posts to Defame their own countryman sachin and calls (the man who had the maximum number of Man Of The Match Awards) Selfish, Plays for Records and Not a Match Winner.

How about this for a record?

Ponting has featured in 100 test wins for Australia. I would take that over meaningless 100 100s.

Did Ponting bowl Australia to victory? Go figure out statistics. McGrath and Shane Warne won those matches with Ponting scoring. What did Agarkar, Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, Raju do when Sachin scored hundreds in Perth, Sydney on his first tour?

Australians are Extremely Patriotic and play for their Nation, Indians are not so patriotic when compared to other nations.

Ponting and Bradman cannot come near Sachin,Folks,WHY???
by Saaani Mrichie on Nov 29, 2012 08:34 PM  | Hide replies

Shame that indian media and some vested interests are doing the sachin-bashing for helping some vested interests! Shame Indians are so good in pulling down their own heroes and legends and a player like Sachin comes only once in 500 years, perhaps???Get some reality checks, folks!Ponting is nobody compared to our legend Sachin for the simple reason that Sachin had to face the fiery bowling of aussies and other countries too and still score 100 centuries! while Ponting or Bradman had the privilege and good lcuk of NOT facing the fiery aussie pace attack and they had the added luxury of facing indian bowlers and score centuries as they want! Further all the umpires were very kind to all white skinned players and very cruel with Sachin and coloured players and so many times Sachin has been given out wrongly ba bad umpiring decisions too! Hope all world and cricket fans will realize now why Sachin is greater than Bradman and Ponting and Others!

very true! Also, Australia had to face bowling attacks of Pakistan, West Indies and South Africa in flat decks of Australia, while Tendulkar had to face bowlers in swinging and seaming pitches found all over India and Sharjah.

Raj,

As per your views ( Its difficult to Play Fast Bowlers in Fast Tracks than Spinners in Flat Tracks), I have one doubt.

Why the Top 3 Wicket Takers (Murali, Shane, Kumble ) in Test Cricket are Spinners? why not a single Fast Bowler?

Just curious to know. I hope you will give me right answer

Ponting is good no denying, but I feel Steve is the best. In 1999 Aus was in no position to win the WC. In fact after 1st round Aus was placed 5th or 6th from there on being undefeated for long time needed a lot of inspiration. At that time Steve lead the way as a great captain and as a batsman. In my opinion Steve is the best example of a captain along with A Ranatunga. They both made legends from little boys from their teams. Though Ranatunga couldn't sustain the magic for long, Steve did it till he retired and even after that.

yes, Sachin was the reason that weaknesses of Dravid and Laxman were not exposed. He continues to win tests for India after their departures.
