Let us be clear about one thing.......
by Solomon on Nov 28, 2012 01:31 PM  | Hide replies

Let us be clear about one thing. When one has been playing for 23 years, 192 test matches, nearly 500 one dayers etc. etc., and given the limited number of countries and venues, at every venue the record is bound to be good given that Tendulkar averages around 54 in Tests and around 45 in one dayers. The averages, especially in tests, is not very very great (given the fact that he is considered the greatest and all that) as almost all leading contemporary greats with reasonable number of tests average between 52 and 60. The fact remains he has been performing very poorly in tests over the last couple of years and blocking the place of a youngster. The moment he scores one more century, everyone will go bonkers and forget his poor performance over the last 2 years. He has done yeoman service to Indian cricket and everyone acknowledges it. The time has come for him to retire gracefully and make way for a youngster. Unfortunately, most great sports persons suffer from this problem. They falter in retiring at the appropriate time. More often than not they tend to get carried away by the statements of so called experts who live in the past and urge the sportsperson to continue. Tendulkar is the latest victim and he is continuing for that elusive.... well, only he knows what?

India must learn to respect and treat their legends well&not pull them down as our enemeis want! See how aussies keep ponting in team despite so many failures!what a shame!BCCI must replace paki umpire aleem dar and britihs umpire tony hill for
the kolata and other test macth too since they were playing for the
brits with biased decisions in their favour and those decisions made india lose the match too! Whether the umpires received money for their favours is not known, but possible and umpires must lose their match
fees if they make wrong decisions or all decisions must be ratifie by a third or fourth umpire in future to avoid match fixing, etc, shame mumabutest macth was fixed since the british team were playing with 13 players, what a shame!

Does treatment of legends apply only to Tendulkar? Everyone knows how badly Laxman was treated just a few months back and forced to announce his retirement by an ultimatum being given to him! And people with cricket knowledge know that Laxman has certainly played more match-winning and match-saving innings over the last 3-4 years than every other Indian batsman. What a shame a legend is delaying his retirement for reasons known only to himself and demeaning the very game of cricket. The legend should know that the game is bigger than the individuals and quit in grace. The grace period is already over for him. Of course, one good knock at Kolkata and everybody will again start going ga ga over him. But the fact remains his time is due.

Whats next for Sachin?
by khozeima attarwala on Nov 28, 2012 12:07 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin says he wants to play till the time he can. But cant he himself see that he has been totally out of form. It would have been better if he hangs his boots or else he will be simply kicked out one fine day. Before he is been told that you are no longer wanted in the team its better he resigns

Well said. Past records matter only to those who go for statistics, it's his present contribution to the team that matters-Which is pathetic.

sachin is a failure agreed, what abt dhoni as captain????
by Bharath karthik on Nov 28, 2012 10:33 AM  | Hide replies

i am not a fan of tendulkar but i am really surprised to see so many articles on him inspite of the fact that the captain of the team, dhoni has under performed not just in one or two matches but almost 4-5 series. dhoni does not deserve his place in the test team forget abt being a captian. dhoni has never won a test match either with his bat nor with his wicket keeping skills. yet he talks about spinners letting him down and also blames batsmen for their poor batting. how can a captain survive inspite of 8 consecutive defeats. its a shame everybody knows he is being backed by srinivasan and nobody can touch dhoni until he has this mans backing. indian selectors are making a great mistake by having dhoni in the team. just look at alistair cook, micheal clarke and smith they are scoring runs in every match they play. dhoni has lost his control on the team and his own performance.

You compare any wicket keeper of other test playing nations with Dhoni. He should be ranked at the bottom.

Some time back he had stated that " it will be selfish to retire as I am on top of my game & that I am a patriot blah blah.

Now that he has admitted that he is not getting runs , why does he not quit. Pure greed. Or is it that he is no longer a patriot.

Today's newspaper headlines read that Tendulkar has left it to the selectors to take a call after patil spoke to him.

height of arrogance , stubborness & shameles ness.

I will not retire , you chuck me out.

Or is it that he can not announce his retirement out of the greed. he will probably return all the endorsemnet money taken as advance if he were to retire on his own. therefore if selectors drop him , he will not mind as then he will not be liable to return this money.

Money is better tahn relf respect & is above national interest. ( blocking a youngster ; cricket team )

India lost the mumbai test because aleem dar and tony hill fixed the match for brits by playing for them! Unless they are dropped for future matches we will os the series 3-1 too!Indians are very good in pulling down their heroes and many isi agents are helping them too and that is why sachin bashing happedn though he just failed in 2 Tests!Look how aussies keep Ponting in team despite so many failures!Sachin is a legend and he merits credit for making millions of indians proud too. BUT what has cricket done to india and indians??? other than helping to waste billions of working hours for past many decades and making us poorer and poorer every years as weished by crooked britishers who invnted this game to fool us and olott us like inventing the british agent makgandheee and nonviolence trick which made all hindus and indians fools forever? Time has come to Ban Cricket or at least Boring and time wasting Test Crciket now!shame all patriots and silent and not agitating to Ban Tests forever, what a shame!

u are right to some extent.
dravid felt it was right time to leave.
this person still does not want to go.
look at ponting:
he said that he lives in a realistic world and knows that if he does not get runs he has no chance to be in Ashes next yr.
at least admittance of problem
why does SRT hang with no reason to continue?

SRT must play attacking and agressive cricket as he has nothing to loose. After all, he has got most of the records under his belt now.. he should play as if there's no tomorrow.
