India's future Test team
by Nikhil Shah on Nov 28, 2012 04:22 AM  | Hide replies

The build up for the future team should involve Rohit Sharma and Manoj Tiwari. Dhoni is against the changes but this process should have started when we played against WI and NZ.

The first indication came when Dhoni ignored Yadav and Aaron for the SA, England tours and then Aaron for the OZ tour who was then declared injured.

Both Umesh Yadav and Aaron were the quickest bowlers in India and Umesh is averaging a wicket every 7.7 overs. Pace with a fuller length results in a better bowling SR which is important in Test matches. Though Varun likes to bowl back of length like Ishant his pace was
crucial for the Indian bowling attack.

On the spin bowling side, Mishra was a genuine leg break not as accurate as Ashwin or Ohja. But Dhoni's preference for accuracy on a rank turner eliminate the need to flight the ball, thus eliminating Mishra in the process. Mishra's is a wristy leg break bowler with side spin and can impart lot more revolutions.
This makes him effective when he loops it in the air.

The complete absence of Mohnish Parmar is also a mystery. Mohnish is a genuine off-spinner in the mold of Murali and though less accurate than Bhajji and Ashwin has the ablity to flight it with slower pace like Mishra.

If the pitch is a rank turner, Kumble, Ashwin, Bhajji and Ojha can exploit it better.

Replace Dhoni First
by sudip majumder on Nov 27, 2012 05:40 AM

With white wash from Engaland and Australia [worst series defat by highest margin ever in the history of Indian cricket) and that guy continues to be the skipper and that to calling the shots! That scoundrel BCCI president MUST GO along with HIS CRONIES. No wonder they managed to get a puppet at the selection committee head but nothing can save them!! of course SRT's baap ka jamindari is Indian Cricket team so as long as he wants he would continue to play

Replace Ashwin, Yuvi and Harbhajan
by sreenivasulu reddy on Nov 27, 2012 03:39 AM

Better to replace Ashwin, Yuvi and Harbhajan Singh. Ashwin is a not test calibre spinner. Harbajan is not bowling well for last few years. Yuvraj is not a test calibre batsman. Rahane should be given the chance to replace Yuvi. It is better to add Chawla and Amit Mishra to replace Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh. Another junkie that needs replacement is Vijay Murali. Not sure why he got selected in first place. Manoj Tiwari should be given the opportunity.

Sachin should not be dropped
by Saravanan Subramanian on Nov 27, 2012 02:35 AM

Whatever happens to the team India, whatever the results may be, Sachin should continue to play for the side, because a place in the team is his birth right, irrespective of how bad he plays and how bad he is a liability to the team.

if sachin is playing then he should bat either at no 3 or at no 5.so that he can declar his retierment and also bring dinda in place zahir and in rahaney in place yuvraj.it is better to loose by youngster than the old fashion rule of experience senior,

No news of SA - Aus test...
by Sadhashiv on Nov 27, 2012 01:03 AM  | Hide replies

there is not a single article highlighting how SA saved the test from jaws of defeat at Adelaide Oval.....

A resolute, fighting century by a debutant (Faf DuPlessis) under testing conditions against a world class team, and that too in the 4th innings with ample support from AB, Kallis and Steyn has helped SA produce one of the most remarkable test saves in the recent history......

Can the Indian fans ever get to see such a high quality innings from the overhyped celebrities like sehwag, gambhir, yuvraj, sachin, dhoni etc....
The answer is NO.
These celebrities can't handle the pressure of playing in 4th innings...
Forget 4th innings, if they encounter a seaming, bouncy wicket they fall like nine pins. Inspite of all this indian fans still feel, their team is the best in the world..

No to mention of Indian bowling and fielding. The less said the better...

I still wonder how India won the ODI world cup .....

U should be dropped first and should not be given authority
by cc man on Nov 27, 2012 12:53 AM

U should be dropped first and should not be given authority on pitch decisions. Also, u should not be allowed in selection meetings.

Also, Fletcher needs to be dropped with immediate effect

talk to pitch curator.....
by Sadhashiv on Nov 27, 2012 12:44 AM

dhoni should ensure that the curator prepares a pitch that would turn only when England bat, and the moment Indian zeroes hold the bat in their hands, the pitch turns into a flat track so that the pathetic fans could witness a flurry of records...

How about Piyush Chawla and Amit Mishra replacing Harbhajan and R Ashwin to give new look to bowling. Zaheer Khan and Sachin may be rested to bring Ishant Sharma and Ajinkhya Rahane. Even Manoj Tiwary can replace Yuvaraj Singh

I believe Ashwin can still stay on in the team if Sachin is shown the door. Ashwin has contributed more than Sachin with the bat, and is as good (or bad depending on how you see it) in the field. That would mean Dhoni will have three spinners, and a better batsman in the team. Win-Win!

if piyush chawla and amit mishra r included, then Tests would turn into T20's for batsmen.
