time to retire
by Debang Bal on Nov 23, 2012 08:39 PM  | Hide replies

It seems sachin has no self respect left.he is waiting for one 50 or something so as to last for another 10 tests.even if he scores one hundred it is time to make way for some young player.

by replacing new talents instead of gambir, tendulkar, yuvraj.its no point in going with these players as they wud jus play like this for the whole series.instead try some thing new.this isnt a govt job for permanent slot.

So, now he gets a free pass? He is not suited for test cricket. He hasn't proven so in 38 tests. He averages 35 and has 2 centuries. Pathetic for a top order batsman.

Had it not been for any of the 11 players who played, the world cup would not have been ours.

It is afresh air that a new talent is scoring runs where as the some old & undeserving like yuvi,Dhoni, srt is clinging shamelessly.
Let the selectors go for Vijay,A.Mukhund & Abharajit.
We also have to see Pujara how he bats in Abroad especially SA/AUS/England where the ball bounces.

Mr.Saaani, i agree with some of your views but the wastage of manhours that you are talking about doesn't happen at all. Nobody follows test cricket in India..believe me..even if some follow, their strength may not be more than 5% of the total population. so who cares for test cricket..?. Remember the British media was crying over very thin spectator presence on Day 1 of the first test match.

@Saani Mrichie, th question here is not whether we are doing enough to change the system of politics in India. there are other forums wherein their is some progress happening and Indians have always shown that we will support the real change. Even in our daily work, we are seeing developement happening in corporate sector which is making the country move and we are happy to be part of it.
Your views on cricket will be your personal one and it makes no difference whether the game was started by Brits. There is a certain aspect of entertainment and competitiveness which people follow. Anyways your views on Mahatma shows how narrow minded you have been and how much success people like you have got from 1800 in gettings things organise of national scale.
Cricket, or for that matter any other sport is a matter of personal perference. By coming everyday on a test forum and pasting the same thread, you are only showing your frustration on getting enough heads rolling towards your ideas.
Get some concrete programs done, people will see the benefits and understand your thoughts. Currently it is like Save Tiger campaign where we all understand the importance however do not see the means and impact of the steps which are being proposed.

Sorry. I do not agree with you. If Dravid and Laxman can be replaced, so also Sachin, Gambir and Zaheer Khan. It is a matter of chances being given to youngsters. If we do not act now, we will be only sitting with bunch of over aged players putting pressure on Indian team.

How do you know there isn't a peak soon to follow? Statistics show Sachin has a leaner patch in 2005-2006...and followed with heaps of runs...We got to Cheer him up....We are creating unnecessary pressure on him by talking about age and all...it's the pressure which is costing his wicket...not form or age...

Sachin was not out
by Sowri Rajan on Nov 23, 2012 07:51 PM  | Hide replies

When Sachin gets out, the Umpire should check the following:
1. Whether was there enough light in the ground?
2. Whether Sachin was ready to receive the delivery? Even if he is half ready, it should be a dead ball.
3. Whether the bowler is left arm spinner, which is not a legal delivery
4. Umpire should ensure that it is a legal delivery - no ball to check with Second, Third and fourth umpires.
5. Also umpire should take opinion of experts like Gavaskar and Shastri whether to give out or let Sachin continue to play the innings as he has been out of form
6. Benefit of doubt for the above reason
7. It is quite possible that Sachin did not expect the bowl to turn and bounce and if it does, it is not legal delivery.
8. Umpire can ask for voting from Sachin fans
9. After all the above, if the decision has to be made against Sachin, black out and do not show any replays.

Had a hearty laugh at your checklist Mr.Sowri. We Indians do not know to time our retirement..remember how Kapil was booed by fans when he was playing his last few matches only to create the record for most test wickets, remember how Karnam malleswari didn't even touch the bar when the whole world was watching..the list is endless..Even in Govt.services and bureaucracy every senior requests for extension of service after retirement and gets it too. wish we learn to retire with dignity.
