It is correct to say that test matches should be played on sporting wickets but it seems we have forgotten that England deliberately produced seaming wickets for Indian tour last year. Indian team had performed well in England because wickets were earlier in sporting nature but in the last tour seaming wickets were prepared with an intention to win the series 4-0 and capture no.1 rank. So, Dhoni is right in demanding turning track.
All the teams should be tested in various kinds of pitches.. As in tennis we have different courts, where the champions are tested..A series should incorporate various (standard pitches predetermined by ICC) types of pitches. The ranking will then have some credibility
A national level team should accept the challange to play on all types of pitches, doctored pitches to suit a stlye of playing is absolutely not advisable

if that is the case then why all this noise about flat tracks? players should be able to play on all tracks...if people think there should not be flat tracks then what is wrong if dhoni wants tracks that will produce results?

Yes Bhatije, but i was speaking about #1 ranking. Then, realized that England were #2 now. If Eng are so talented, they should be able to play on all pitches.....

Please don't hide the facts,Dhoni is not asking for result oriented tracks,he is asking for rank turners which turn from day 1.This way it will help Ojha & Ashwin to take wickets easily ,otherwise they need to slog.He wants easy way out.And what result r u talking abt,u want result in 5 days not on 3rd or 4th day itself and make it one sided.And moreover,if u want ur team to be the best u need to win on all kind of pitches.What is the use of winning on this doctored pitches and then becoming sitting ducks overseas. Now ,don't tell me that England/Australia/South Africa also do the same,if they do v don't have to tow their line. Dhoni needs to think whether he wants his team to be world's best test team or win home series on this doctored pitches and by hook or crook become no.1 team.

and i think that applies to asu eng and sa teams as well whether they want to win home series and prepare doctoredpitches so that they will win by hook and crook to become no. 1 team

i think sa eng and aus need to win AWAY series more to be called a true no. 1 team and not by wins on doctored pitches at home and whine about pithces in other countries....they should prove themselves on all pitches...after all the other team is also playing on the same pithc same cndition right?

Adelaide & Sydney are spinning tracks in Australia and similarly Oval in England is spinner friendly.And they don't doctored those pitches irresective of the opposition.If u remember Swann won the match at Oval for Eng against India on our last visit.And Australia usually plays spinners when they are playing in Sydney/Adelaide.

Being No.1 for a year doesn't make any team as best team.By being best i mean ,WI of the 70's & 80's and Australia of 90's and till 2005/06,that is because they cud beat any opposition irrespective of the conditions.And the present SA is good,look at their away record ,they have not lost a single away series in the last 3-4 Years.By being best i mean,being no.1 for atleast 5-6 years consecutively.Right now,none of the teams have that calibre,SA is slightly better than others 'coz of their away record.

Dhoni's demands seems to be filled with vendeta. I recall him saying if you can have pitches where swings from the first ball why cant we have wickets where ball spins from the first ball!!

Moron.. on those same pitches.. Warne screwed england so many times... so we can safely say that Ashwin, bhajji, kumble can get wickets only on dusty wickets..

and bechare warne cannot be successful on those pitches whereh bhajji ashwin kumble successful...tells a lot about warne's quality as a bowler...

hahah... just one place he was not successful.. but all this ashwin, bhajji, kumble were never successful in Australia, England, South Africa etc.. Warne did great in Pakistan and Sri Lanka also

I remember Murali singlehandedly winning a match for SL in Lord's.V need spinners of that calibre ,not the ones who will bowl only on rank turners.
