We don't know what the political issues are with Varun and the BCCI, but it seems like his absence is a mystery because he should have recovered from any injury he had since the selection of the Australian tour.
Pace is a something that India needs to in-corporate in its armoury for Tests matches and overseas tours are important since wicket-taking is lot simpler that a verstatile and crafty seamer.

YES WHERE IS AARON, BCCI DOES NOT MENTION A WORD ON THE PROMISING FAST BOWLER I GUESS HE DOES JUSTICE TO THE WORD FAST. ITS BEEN LONG SINCE HE CAME BACK OR WHAT HIS NATURE OF INJURY IS ????
With all his stats in the past few months, all Dinda could achieve was to be a substitute to an unfit Ishant, who is a substitute for an aging Zaheer!!! Instead, he would have had a better chance making it to the Test team by spending time taking care of Dhoni's (or Srinivasan's ) poodle.
the report itself says that both ishant n dinda r not likely to playin the xi. ind vl play 4 bowlers ie 2 pacers n 2 spinners. n oldie zaheer n young umesh r likely to play.
