i was just going through messages here, reading about people claiming to be cricket experts and criket fans but i seriously doubt thier understanding of the game.. 0-8 loss was disappointing for India but was it really bad captaincy that reason for the flop show? non-performing openers, tired bowlers, out of form Sachin.. the biggest reason of all was the amount of cricket being played by India and the money and fame surrounding IPL.. no one wants to be labelled as "Test cricketer" these days.. this was the same team that took India to no.1 spot, so wats suddenly so wrong.. between 2003-2007, India won 2/14 series.. and u guys remember those more.. since 2011 WC, India has won 6/9 series.. u got no alternate to Dhoni as a keeper.. even as a captain for now.. Kohli is too young for captaincy as he's still learning.. Gambhir and Sehwag are struggling for place in final 11.. who else have u got.. i challange u to give me 11 names who make a better team than the current.. bolta to Digvijay Singh bhi hai.. but baaton ka sense to bane..

One small update my friend, after WC 12 series have been played (test & ODI included). 7 have been won, no doubts about it. But did you bother to see the opposition? 4 times it has been West Indies, twice New Zealand. These teams have been #7 & #8 on the chart. The only noteworthy aspect was the victory over Srilanka on their soil. People would say similar conditions to Indian pitches, but we should give credit to the team work (4 out of 5 times, they scored above 250)....
Was Dhoni an alternate to Dravid/Kumble when they retired?? Had he learnt everything when he was handed the captaincy?? People had the same doubt on Dhoni if he could survive..... There is nothing wrong is checking Kohli's performance.
But yes, changing 1 person will not modify the result or performance of others.

one small update, against New Zealand once and against England once (in India). Rest remains same.

dravid is gr8 man to forgive dhoni for his faul play in 2007 world cup because 2007 west indies test match tour india won 1-0 (3 test match test series) in january 2007 but there was some underperformance by dhoni harbhajan and agarkar who lost wickts in a row against shri lanka to kick india out of world cup in april2007
First time in his entire career, Dravid pulls the wrong string...Dhoni is useless on both formats...a captain should be shrewd and lead with his batting capabilities, he is absolutely useless with his comicsque technique..better groom someone right now to take over as the captain..
Re: Re: Re: Wrong string
by sunil vaidya on Nov 13, 2012 04:06 PM
and btw jiju, he is not pulling any strings...he knows dhoni is good and naturally would like to have dhoni in the indian team and also leading it since he has mostly done a very good job...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Wrong string
by sunil vaidya on Nov 13, 2012 04:07 PM
and also btw he being no longer in the team he can give his ''real'' opinion now, surely?
Re: Re: Re: Wrong string
by Jiju on Nov 13, 2012 07:24 PM
Let me reply point-wise: 1. Do you have any say in the selection process? 2. Are you his mouth piece to say what he knows and what he does not know? 3. I dont feel he can give his "real opinion" now. Take the case of Kapil Dev who was crying about Sachin's retirement (before being given "amnesty" by BCCI). Suddenly he has started praising Sachin and saying we should not call for Sachin's retirement.... :):)
In any case, does it make a difference to you how somebody else thinks?
those who doubt dhoni as a test batsman surely dont know what is his record....till date he is india's most successful wicket keeper and batsman...no other indian test keeper till date has a better wicket keeping or batting stats...look at his average more than 38 runs per innings...let me tell you there have been specialist batsmen with less than his average in teams of not only india but also eng sa aus...for eg. even hansie cronje a specialist batsman and a successful south african captain who captained for more than 50 tests has worse test batting record than dhoni...take a look at how many 50 plus scores dhoni has scored in tests and how many innings he takes for each such score...about 3.5 innings per 50 plus score...also he has contributed with an average of almost 50 runs per innings in TEST WINS by india...only one player will be required to replace a good batsman or a good bowler...but dhoni's replacement will be more difficult to find..good wicket keeper good batsman good captain...

Please be short and precise. Nobody has time to read such a lousy message, that too from a crackpot like you.

You are a loserinlife and a braindead fellow. So, nobody with brains will bother to read your messages. Low IQ people like you need to be informed a thousand times toshutup.
Any captain, of any country, after loosing two series- one after another-with identical margin-of 0-4 would have been morally removed from the post. But in India, no one even thinks about that move. Poor Mohinder Amarnath raised the right point and he had to loose his selector post. This is our way of killing legitimate voice. We lack the spirit to call a 'spade a spade' when it matters. We allow everything with the attitude- 'chaltha hai'. The problem is no one worth replacing with as captain. It is too early to burden Virat Kohli now and hence we drift with Dhoni.Let us enjoy the DRIFT with Dhoni till we are doomed.
When 0 - 8 was not able to replace Dhoni as Indian Captain then what Dravid can say except that. Every body know what happened to Mahindar Amarnath as selector asking for Dhoni's replacement after 0-8 defeat. He was simply kicked out from selection committee.
How much money Dravid was paid by Dhoni to talk like this to keep his position as Captain. See other country Captains who resigned/retired once they lose a series. These shameless Dhoni can't find a regular place if he born in other countries. Only the BCCI controlled by terrorists/Industrialists/Political crooks is keeping him as captain in all formats for the money they are earning through Betting. Dhoni can never won against strong teams abroad. Moreover he rides on the Contribution from famed five VVS,WALL,DADA,SRT,KUMBLE. Even the final of world cup is also fixed. Now except SRT nobody is there.Even then the crooked Dhoni doesn't want Class players like Badri,Vijay,Mukund,Pujara, karthik in team. To safegaurd his place he will accept any player pushed by the idiotic selectors. In India the pitches will aid spinners & India win the series, the mass will forget the white wash by England & SA series.

for your info. sivanandam Kumble did not play even ONE test under dhoni's captaincy...
Re: Is he looking for some job with BCCI?
by Saumitra Kamat on Nov 12, 2012 07:06 PM
Yes. I read last month that he was willing to be coach to Indian team...
seems like everyone is a better cricketer than those who are in the playing XI. what dravid says is right..of course i am not a big fan of dhoni...but i am nowhere near to his talent also..when we were winning then dhoni was the toast of the nation and now he is seen as useless......why don't we ppl grow up?
Re: msgs
by sivanandam lakshmanan on Nov 12, 2012 08:08 PM
whether Dhoni won anything abroad against strong teams like Aus/Eng/SA ? White wash in oneday/tests is not acceptable when you are no 1 team.
Not sure why Dravid is backing a captain who lost 8 test matches in a row & that too with very minimal contribution from bat.We are too tolerant unlike ACB which will not spare poor performers in the long run.
Re: Re: Not right
by sunil vaidya on Nov 12, 2012 06:57 PM
besides the above, aravind let me also put another fact clearly before you and other people which many people have overlooked in all this affair...that dhoni did not lose 8 matches in a row...dhoni was captain for 7 out of those 8 matches...and it was sehwag who was captain for the adelaide test in australia which we lost by 298 runs...because of slow overrate dhoni was handed a one test ban and sehwag captained indian team and the result was the same even though dhoni was not there either as a captain or as a player...
Re: Not right
by aravind gopalakrishnan on Nov 13, 2012 05:06 AM
Agreed but whatever be the reason, losing 7 matches in a row is also not really great. That too for a team just after the world cup triumph,it is not at all good. Obviously, captain will be blamed for the defeat. If we look here,captain\'s contribution is miniscule when compared to other captains whom you have mentioned(who had performed so well in pressure). We are all only looking reasons & reasons to justify for repeated failures.
