We miss him (we are not expecting him to come back from retirement, Shefali) and we have every right to miss him. Orthodox in approach but adapts quickly to situations. Stats never reveal the worth of any cricketer, he may have SR of 71 in ODI but he has always played as per situations holding the Indian middle order together as the backbone of Indian batting. I can rattle off numerous innings from him where he played at more than run a ball pace but I do not think this is the time to do that. If some people say his runs were a fluke and scored in edges, they must be kidding! A true team man indeed. There was one apple here who said people are supporting him as they are from sambar land...shows the maturity of apple to call a few states as Sambar land (I am sure that apple must be licking his/her fingers while eating mouth watering sambar! :)). If I had to regionalize a national cricketer, he's a Maharashtrian by birth, born in Indore and lived in Bangalore. So, grow up Apple! I am a proud Indian, who admires such classical cricketers as Dravid.

PS. I like Dhoni's leadership in ODIs and ODI batting, but I think he needs to mature as a good test captain. I do not have to demean Dhoni to praise Dravid. A team is made of different styled cricketers who complement each other well. We do not want a one-dimensional team but an effective team. And remember, this gentleman called Rahul Dravid was one of the few who enabled India to the #1 ranking.

Exactly. He played to the requirement of the team. He was thrusted upon the job of a wicket keeper to accommodate an extra batsman. Although he didn't like that idea he kept wickets In the team's interest. Now coming to the SR statistics of Rahul Dravid in one dayers I am reminded of several instances when the team was on the verge of a batting collapse and saved by Rahul Dravid. For instance the match against NZ in world cup semis in johannesberg in 2003. India needing 146 to win were 3down for 21 ruffled up by the fiery Shane bond with sehwag tendulkar and captain ganguly all back in the pav. It was rahuldravid and mohd Kaif who pulled out a victory from that situation. This is just one incident out of many where rah was the savior.
Dravid is as aggressive as much as he looks calm from outside. He is a brave-heart. He is a man who has good control over his emotions. Rightfully, he gives max emphasis on basics.
You are the best batsman like other batsman like sachin, ganguly, laxman. Also ur a good human being. When u resigned from captainship, as a moral responsibility u resigned. At that time every one praising dhoni dhoni. His captaincy was only his Gut feeling, guess work , his explosive batting which was going well that time. After taking captaincy from dravid, dhoni was giving credit to the young team. Now the same team is getting screwed up day by day. Now atleast dhoni should realise that senior & experienced batsman matter a lot to the team. He dumped dravid over his young team from North. Now he will face the same heat.
Any batsman who has a test average of 50 plus at the end of his career is a great batsman. My top five Indian batsman of all time are Tendulkar, Gavaskar,Sehwag,Dravid and laxman.
His commitment and dedication to the game is unmatched by ANY ONE ELSE...Always ready for ANY challenge...A Team Man!!! Best Slip Fielder, Done Keeping to accommodate another batsman and never hungry for captaincy...True Fighter and Best Indian Test Batsman....Period.

I was an Under 19 Cricketer Myself. I know how difficult it is to handle true fast bowling and really Hats off to Dravid. The pitches in AU are like green tops and the most difficult to bat on. I dont know why this girl is treating such a good cricketer with so much disdain. Gayle is like a lottery cricketer. Dravid is a true technical expert

Shefali, no player in any game is perfect so your cricketing skills in cricket seems very limited to criticize Dravid THE WALL. Still cricket lovers feels his absence in team.

He has an exemplary record on and off the field. A gentleman to the core. He has batted in all positions, kept wickets and even bowled on occasions (He got two wickets against S Africa with his off spin). Along with VVS was a pillar of strength. Sad that these two have left, but everyone has his limits. Great player and a fine gentleman.
