Gambhir was a flop in the eight tests India lost in England and Australia. You did not bring that up. A player who himself was a flop abroad could lead the team in the tests?
Virat was successful and almost took India to the tri-series final after the world record run chase against SL. BCCI rightly made Virat vice-captain before Asia cup because Virat put his hand up and chased many run targets when needed.
Gambhir is not a sportsperson but an opportunist,who after winning the IPL considers himelf to be the greatest captain.He should not forget that performance in IPL is not a direct measure of talent .In the post match interview he even advised Dhoni to play badminton or tennis instead of cricket.Gambhir considers himself as an alternative for Dhoni.Gambhir should not have opened his big mouth and enjoyed the celebrations but he did so and has lost all respect and admiration.I still support KKR ( minus Gambhir).Certainly Dhoni does not care about aperson like Gambhir.

True. One single tournament win will not prove anything against a legend like Dhoni. Ghambir should maintain silence and perform with bat like Sachin used to do. Many strong Indian teams were there for long time, but none of them won World Cup until Dhoni came as captain. Personal battles within the team should be avoided. IPL is not played for that. Also Dhoni should stop insulting senior and experienced players and should try to maintain harmony between the players.
What Saurav Ganguli is saying is based on the single outcome of the shortest version of cricket that too is not an international event its an Indian Premier League..which has its own rules, laws and bylaws. It seems that he is in too hurry to find an alternative to Dhoni..let Gambhir or any x,y,z aspirant for captainship be tested in the international event be it Test, ODI or T20 shouldering the responsibility as an acting captain that too without affecting his personal performance then only such suggestions should be made, otherwise fine players like Gambhir or Kohli will be lost in oblivion because of such hurry. Again he makes contradiction of himself only by judjing the captainship of Gambhir based on a T20 league as fit for test matches. While everone admits that Dhoni has no parallel in short/shortest version of cricket as far as captainship is concerned.

Dhoni himself has indirectly indictaed that he does not want to play test cricket, so Ganguly has a point. Dhoni is an imporatnt member and good captain of the ODI and T20 team, a bit misfit in tests.
Gang U Lee knows it is the end of the road for him but like a typical bong he has to leave everything behind like a festering cesspool or at least attempt to leave it like that.
No wonder K o l k a t t a and the state of Waste B h a n g a a r is so backward compared to the rest of India.

I do not you are looking to IMPROVE INDIAN TEST PERFORMANCES. Yes, the statement of Ganguly is MOST IRRESPONSIBLE. Gambhir may be a good one day player but he is NOT A TEST TEAM PLAYER leave alone be captain. I believe the selectors know this.

i'm not a bengali .... just look at this fact - india from 1947-early 2000s had won only 11 test matches under various captains but under saurav ganguly's captaincy from early 2000s india has won 10 matches! He was the one who taught the team to be aggressive and return the favour to the arrogant aussies

Yes Totally agree with both. The advantage that DHONI got was that he came lower down the order. Otherwise performace wise both are below average.
