umesh and varun. How can ipl performances be made a tool while selecting a national team for odi's and tests? Ever since this srikanth has took charge, he has brought in players like manpreet gony, rahul sharma etc based on their ipl performances. Its ridiculous and disastrous to say the least. Awana stil has a long way to go before being considered for national selections. Even those bowlers who can swing the ball, needs to be bowling around 135 km speed on average. Else they will be taken to the cleaners, once the ball gets old which is what happening to irfan and to an extent praveen kumar. Praveen can be a wily customer even with his slow medium pace if he is able to keep his form. Vinay and umesh are the best bowlers now in the current indian odi set up. i hope varun aaron also migrate to that level soon. zaheer is not getting any younger these days and he should be preserved for test matches only
