Umpires must be respected and their decisions cannot be sought to be reviewed by the teams or players or captains. (or even IPL franchise owners!)
So, the very concept of DRS as it is prevailing now at random as per mutual consent of the participating countries / boards is nauseating and disgusting. How on earth do the experts in ICC come out with such fancy and worthless ideas?
However, I do admit that the game is highly commercialized now and wrong decisions can make or mar careers or may mean huge losses to players.
So what is the way out?
The umpires must give a decision on their own only if they are 100% sure of what they are doing - whether it is lbw, run out, stumping or whether the catch was taken properly etc. If they have the slightest doubt in their mind, without wasting time they should seek the help of the TV umpire by themselves.
Also, it appears funny to me that the umpire at the bowler's end can judge a no ball when the bowler oversteps the crease, with a view of the bowler from behind his back! So no ball decisions for overstepping the crease should come from the TV umpire again. These ideas must be made mandatory without any discretion for the umpires or the boards.
Time spent in obtaining the TV umpire's decision must be deducted for calculating the over rate of the fielding side.
