Unlucky CSK
by sambamoorthy jambunathan on May 21, 2012 08:13 PM

CSK was unlucky to share a point with RCB on the washout match. That point should be rightfully belongs to CSK. Could have easily thrashed RCB (take the Dru6 addict opener out and the game is done for RCB).

RCB could not match the 'worst' performance of CSK. One man show(RCB) will not lost long....

Do not know why MOM has not given to Duminy
by Kishore Bysani on May 21, 2012 06:34 PM

What an excellent knock from Duminy!! I think Man of the match should be given to Duminy.. I don't know why Steyn got highlighted.. We need to take this sluggish pitch into consideration. And on the top of it, amid to the pathetic fielding by DC in IPL5 season, Duminy hold onto 3 catches out of which one is an excellent one. Since the wicket is sluggish, even the bowlers like Ashish Reddy shined and got 3 wickets.. What is great in that? Only huge thing what Steyn did is he took Gayle's wicket which might be one of the reason why he is Man of the match.!!!

MIRACULOUS SNEAK IN FOR CSK YET AGAIN !
by damodaran mohan on May 21, 2012 05:39 PM  | Hide replies

Amidst off-field controversies RCB manage to eliminate themselves before entering the 'eliminator' round. It might be a coincidence but the IPL management and BCCI must be feeling greatly relieved at RCB's timely exit. Continuation of RCB in the POs would have been real embarrassment. But how long BCCI would be banking on such providential escapes ? Time to bring in transparency and revise ground rules for all the stake holders to save the best Indian sports brand. More of that later on separate blog. Now coming to the Play offs, the master of last ball heroics,Dhoni appears to have sneaked in CSK through the back door into the last four riding on his lady luck ! More close games ? Can CSK chart a Hat-trick ? Anything can happen but it would be interesting to watch if there is any change in strategy on the part of CSK ! The ease with which DD made it to the POs is simply amazing but can it win the title with that ease or win it at all ? Looks difficult because although it is a strong side but is not a balanced team---strong but unpredictable batters bunched at one end with inexperienced youngsters bunched at the other end. In fact KKR appears to be better placed to win the first QF. Then DD will have to take on either CSK or MI and will have better chance with the latter. On the other hand MI must be happy to face the inconsistent CSK because it would have been simply blown away by Gayle –storm otherwise. Who is going to win IPL-5 ? Difficult to say but KK

N0nsense. CSK got 17 points with better run rate than RCB/RR/Kings 11. So where is the 'luck' factor????

Just because CSK finished its games before does not mean they should lose.... get real.

Worst performance of CSK this year is better than most other teams.

If all of us think from a cricketing point of view it is RCB's poor start to the tournament under Vettori , which led to them not qualifying . If we see their record after Virat became captain , they have fared far better.
Coming to CSK'S being in the semi-final, people are thinking they may win more because of Dhoni's lady luck . But again if we thing by cricketing standards , they seem to be in the worse position among all four on current form and the fact they need to win three matches to win , though two will be in their home turf.

I just dont understand why morons call this as CSK's luck and blah blah blah..If you analyse all the teams in the competition, accoring to me, only Delhi and Kolkata deserved to be in Play-Offs. Teams like Mumbai,Banglore and Hyderabad were heavily dependent on 1/2 players and wanted them to perform everytime. Luckily for Mumbai, Malinga performed well and Rohit Sharma was decent and they are through. For bangalore Gayle won them half of the games, De-vilears the rest, and when both failed in the last game, they lost. For Hyderabad, inspite of Steyn's deadly bowling and Shikkar Dhavan's consistant batting, they lost games due to their pathetic ( I can't find a worse word) club-level fielding. Pune had none...No team effort and no individual stars and predictably finish last.

On the other hand, if you observe, CSK, RR and KXIP played more lika team, with everyone contributing at some point or other. And among them, CSK were clearly the best. I can't say if CSK deserved to play in play-offs..but I can vouch RCB just didn't deserve it.

Another point is the scheduling, Chennai finished the league games well before the rest and had to wait for other results. Had it been the other way round, with Bangalore finishing their games before Chennai and Chennai playing Punjab in their last outing, the same crowd would have praised Chennai for playing well when it matters. Its all phychological here.

Bottom line: There is no luck, the top 4 who qualified were the best among the 9.

I dont agree with you regarding mumbai being a team dependent on individual performances..infact the four teams who have made it to the play-offs all are good all round teams having depth in all departments plus they have players with the X-Factor like Smith,Pollard for mumbai ; Warner,Sehwag for delhi ; Gambhir,Naraine for KKR and Morkel,Bravo for CSK...and thats why they have reached where they have.

AS RCB already lost out, their players have alredy found an alternative employment as servers and cooks at Sukh Sagar, Santhi Sagar, Adigas, Satish Sagar etc.
