Chanderpaul the great

He plays both at home and away with the same sense of commitment. Ethnic Indians are awarded Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, Padmashri, etc. He deserves Bharat Ratna award more than the overhyped Sachin

What a great determined fighter! One could see national pride while he plays cricket in its all purity far away from the mercenary world of IPL!He of the ilk of Ken Barrington, Mohinder Amarnath, Steve Waugh & Miandad for whom national pride & honour were supreme!

Chanderpaul - The wall
by Manoj Adwani on May 20, 2012 01:45 AM

Over the years Shivnairane Chanderpaul has scored so many runs for West Indies, many a times in crisis situations. He has completed 10,000 runs in Test cricket at an average of nearly 50. At present he is the no 1 Test batsman in Test cricket. Then why does he not got as much credit and media attention that all other batsman who have scored 10,000 runs in Tests? Is it because he is more often on the losing side or because his batting style is conventional. His style may be unconventional, but it is very effective and since most of the times he runs in crisis situations, his achievement is even more praiseworthy. I wonder how many more runs he would have scored because he bats at No. 5 and runs out of partners as the tail enders do not give him support. To me he is a real achiever

such a shame for windies to go from 36/0 to 36/3 in 10 mins..with powel and edwards being unnecessary wickets.

in the midst of this the guyana wall stands firm (although hardly troubling england with his excessively defensive approach). was well supported by bravo while he lasted, and now with samuels, but with 6 full sessions to go and windies still trailing, anything that chanderpaul makes will just add more runs to losing causes
