yes u are right, after KP went away DD is depending solely on warner. With sehwag's form still a worrysome state, delhi needs to work hard

nice statistics.... but statistics is dangerous - some one crossed a river on foot since he was told that the average depth is only 3.5 feet.

Yes I agree. But a win is a win no matter what...be it a 1 run margin or a 100 run thrashing..as they are only going to get 2 points out of it. And in this format, no team is strong or weak ..we have had Chennai thrashing Delhi is one game and losing to Mumbai tamely in another.

As on today, both Rajasthan and Punjab have 14 points each from 14 games. But you showed their statistical chances different. How it could be ? Also, Bangalore have 15 points from same no. of matches. So, its chances should be more tha that of Rajasthan and Punjab.
Please recheck as myself is also very fond of these types of stats.

Re. your question- Lets compare Punjab and Bangalore. I agree both have 2 games. However, When Punjab wins two, that means Chennai loses and so it significantly dimishes Chennai's chances. Whereas Bangalore's next two wins are against Delhi and Deccan- one is in and the other is out. His numbers look sensible to me though I have not verified e/thing.

I didnt get the numbers from random guess...I got them out of probability, placing all teams at equal level. The logic is simple. Chennai has 50% chance of winning the last game and 50% change of losing it, while punjab has 25% chance of winning both, 50% change of winning just 1 out of 2 and 25% change of losing both. Same applies to Rajastan, Bangalore and other teams. Also, given the relative positions and the opponents they are likely to face, their probability of making it to top4 changes.

Bottom line: Just think on these lines..8 games left, 2 cases (win or loss, as no tie is assumed) so power(2, 8) = 256 possibilities..now analyse each of them and see in how many cases the focussed teams appear in top4 and derive it yourself.

It is always appreciable to take stern disciplinary action against the defaulters but why not against the Politicians ? Some of them are the root of corruption. Keeping in mind the age and future of those IPL players, they need to be warned strictly but not banned for ever.
