the best thing ganduly can do is to drop himself. but these parochial bangalis will never agree. if bangalis think he is so good, why dont you take him back in the calcutta team? When he was there, calcutta was at the bottom of the dump but once he was kicked out, they have now started doing well.
going by gandulys performances, it is actually the opposition team and ganduly versus pwi. This guy is a laibility and it is evident from the fact that kkr started doing well after kicking him out. Even in the indian team, ganduly was one of the most selfish players who would always slow down while approching a personal landmark.
Interesting that ganguly again cops the fine, instead of a ban, which means ipl is not adhering to the latest icc ruling regarding over rate offences. if this was an international t20 ganguly would've been banned for next game already.
...was very unfair on him and his team as the ulta slow mo replay showed it had a big inside edge onto the pads. so it turned out to be a poor decision by the umpire which in realtime looked close. But to top it all its a double whammy for smith as he now gets reprimanded for dissent, this is rather unfortunate because smith was obviously upset on being given out for the edge. showing 'dissent' at such decisions is a natural human reaction , smith was visibly unhappy as he shook his head and extended his bat to indicate he had hit it. but i guess we're all used to such double whammies dished out to batsmen.

To keep the respect for Umpires this is needed; They are also human beings and they can make mistakes but if they are humiliated then time will come when players will start sledging umpires like they do among themselves;

when a batsman knows he was not out because he knew of the edge, can;t he say anything in his own defence? who brought all these one sided laws/ umpires need to refer to TV umpire in such cases. they are not mistake proof and they shd have the courage to refer.

the communication needs to be tightened. in general batsmen would always like to be given notout, and say things in his defence. that way it would be a mess. batsmen make human mistakes by playing wrong shot, by calling a run incorrectly, fielders make mistake by dropping a catch, bowlers make mistakes likewise...therefore umpires can also make mistakes but the authority should be in one hand to keep things streamlined

As there is no second chance for a batsman, if he judged out wrongly, umpires decision should be reviewed. If a bowler bowl a full toss and struck six he can bowled the batsman in the next ball as he has many chances. In a critical match like yesterday between PWI and KKR , Smith was clearly not out as ball struck a thick edge at bat, but Umpire Tarapore gave him out. Smith may or may not win the match but what is the quality of Umpiring in such a big tournament? In yesterdays match clearly Tarapore was the villain who is responsible for PWI loss. In fact if Billy Bowden would be the umpire, Smith definitely would not be out. This is the quality of Indian umpire, nobody is in elite panel of ICC. In such a money oriented tournament like IPL and so called honesty of Indian Umpires there must be DRS to challenge umpires decision. We have watched previously many Indian and Pakistani Umpires decision in favor of own country and may be here in IPL some provincial or influence by higher or for some other personal benefit as we Indians are very much honest and there is no match fixing here! Anna should be exiled.
