by Amolkumar Kolhe on Apr 03, 2012 03:40 PM

What bothers me that in India, sport as Lousy as Cricket is the highest paying sport. This tells us that us how bad a situation is for other sport. Have we became so lousy, potato couch , office cockroach that we adopted Cricket as our favorite sport?

What a massive rant
by RAJAN MHAMAI on Apr 01, 2012 02:43 PM  | Hide replies

THis is more of a rant, which reeks of the jealousy of not being able to earn the kind of money that cricketers earn.

These are the best professionals in the country. How much do the best actors earn ? How much do the best doctors, the best lawyers and the best managers earn ?

Bruno , it is indeed a pity that people like are born in this country. Did you read the article ?Here are some of the lines from the article : "that's several times more than what my family and four of my neighbours' families would earn in our lifetimes." " won't be unfair to say that many of us work for 50 hours a week on an average. In larger cities such as Mumbai we spend about 20 hours just commuting to and from work. Let me not get started on the unskilled labourers who seem to work endlessly for all their lives"

The writer is comparing sports persons to unskilled labourers ? Is that fair ? And is it fair for you to ingore that ?

A professional hockey player earning less is not the fault of cricketers. Its the governments fault. I am sure you have nothing logical to say to that.

Ridiculous article based on "facts" from Wikipedia
by diivolunt on Apr 01, 2012 11:16 AM

Author wrote: "Wikipedia quotes the 2010 edition of the same report estimating that 'the average salary of an IPL player over a year would be $3.84 million' -- that's several times more than what my family and four of my neighbours' families would earn in our lifetimes"

$3.84 million is said by Mr.Abhishek Mandbuddhi to average salary for an IPL player so an average budget would be $100 million for each team when they are limited by rules to $7 million. So according to Mr. Mandbuddhi, Cricket teams have less than 2 players (see $3.84 million as average) or the decline in costs was so huge that 2010 average was 3.84 million while Gambhir the highest paid for 2011 got 2.4 million or 150% less than last year's average.
The real figure is 38.4 lakhs or rupees 3.84 million which is less than average sum earned that year by average Indian H-1 B software professional. I would say that this sum is earned by a software professional and his 4000000 neighbour families every year of their lifetimes going forward atleast.

See the difference $ or rupee sign makes. Whole article now seems a rant against one's betters by a frustrated individual. Viraat Kohli was paid $5000 for that season so by Mr. Abhishek Mandbuddhi's stats, if average player salary was a 10 foot ravana, Viraat's salary that year was the itch in one of 20 armpits.
Mr Mande definitley begrudges the cricketers their money. He should turn his attention to our kabaddi teams, they also complained of tr

Presently Cricket is all a Casino play rest all talks stop lying and pretending innocent sports lovers.
This game is a limited sport played by some poor commonwealth legacy fellas which is now a days a prime resource for these syndicates to indulge into making filthy quick-bucks in the guise of pseudo-sports in connivance with all market-crooks all around.
Those who are called as players in this entire hoopla are bunch of uneducated lusty fools from obvious petty backgrounds as well who are deprived badly in their own societies to show their excellence in any other way.

Excellent article. Hit to the point. The Indian players are not professionals. They are paid like professionals but behave like kids. Look at the NBA or American Football Association players. They are paid high and behave like professionals. We often compare us with foreign players, but we forget to compare our Indian mind with them.
