Media just blows any matter out of proportion and keep chewing it for weeks to get publicity. In India it is always better to stay away from media. We have heard and seen and witnessed many protesters and common man always hitting media and targetting media for false and axaggerated news.

The role of a commentator and that of a player or captain is different. A commentator has to keep his bias for his country aside. To fault Ganguly for his patrotism is utter foolishness and stupid.

Basav, Ganguly give life line on Dravid. Dravid not fitted as batsman, Ganguly fit him Wicket Keeper batsman. Ganguly is not father of Dravid. But then he was the captain of Dravid. I think Dravid will not angry me and you too.

So if SRT would've requested the Doc to push it for another day stating that he had to honor another legend, the Doc would refuse him, right?

Sachin's tribute t dravid
by Gajendra Medhi on Mar 28, 2012 12:23 PM  | Hide replies

I am a great great fan of Sachin tendulkar. But, frankly speaking, I am disapointed over Sachin's indifference to Dravid's greatness. He should have shown great heart to appriciate Dravid as a great batsman of all time. It would have enhanced his greatness more.

What Sachin told? It will be difficult to replace Dravid. This is simply not enough to give tribute to such a great batsman.

What Dravid has sacrified?
by rama krishna on Mar 28, 2012 12:20 PM  | Hide replies

Did he Sacrify anything in his life?

Why RCB didnt show value on Dravid in IPL Auctions? When RCB didnt retain him, he should have walked out of IPL and that would have shown some self-respect.

Dravid kept wickets just because he can't find place purely on his batting and we didnt have Dhoni/Dinesh/Saha/Parthiv kind of Keeper in those days. Just to get place in team, he kept wickets. Its not a sacrifice and its just to get place in team.

If opener is not there, obviously 1st down is obvious choice to get promoted to opener. Opener or 1st down not much difference in test matches.

I would call it as a sacrifice if he had gone down to 6th or 7th position to promot Laxman to 1st down. He didnt do though Laxman is preferring 1st down. So what kind of credit should I give to him.

Disagree with you on most counts except the wk part, as it was well-documented that Ganguly told Dravid that unless he doubled up as wicket-keeper, his place in ODIs could not be guaranteed with the arrival of youngsters like Yuvraj, Kaif, Sehwag and Dinesh Mongia.

Its not dravid to select the preferences its the selectors and captain, only he was there to accept all roles. He is great cricketer no doubt, his passion and dedication is unquestionable and atleast not by people who hv not achieved a single thing.

I never question Dravid's commitment or passion or dedication or Technic. He is good. He is hardworker. But he should have shown better maturity in many stages.

I don't believe you are talking about maturity.

What does walking out of IPL have to do with any sacrifice?

Dravid was dropped and he worked his way back into the ODI squad. He made it back on merit and not based of any agreement to don the keeper's gloves. Half-baked information sucks.

If an opener is not present, as also the 1 down batsman, the no.4 batsman shouldn't see much difference between opening and coming 2 down. Flawed logic, no?

When he was the skipper, he did demote himself to No. 6/7 for the betterment of the youngsters. THAT, my friend is called a sacrifice.

When he carried his bat through the 1st innings at 'The Oval' last year, he came back to open within the next few minutes. No other 'Geniuses' or 'Record holders' vouched to do that. THAT, my friend, is called a sacrifice.

Salutations Rahul
by anand pathak on Mar 28, 2012 12:07 PM  | Hide replies

It has been a matter of pleasure to see your journey Rahul. We are honoured that you played for the Indian team. Few would know how determined and professional a player you have been, ever striving to improve your fitness and working on your technique. I have not seen Sir L.Hutton batting. They say he too was a technically most gifted batsman, I find you nearly in the same mould. You always put a price on your wicket. Your immense patience is a rarity to find.
You silently worked in the corners while you let the lime light be on the others.
I have yet to see any one who was not immensely gifted yet has been so diligent in making up for it through sheer grit and labour. I feel the world runs not because of the talented but because of sincere and diligent hard working individuals like you.
That should inspire many to develop their skills to a cutting edge through sheer focused labour.
I bend to for what you have contributed to Indian cricket, the man you have been on and off the field.
To me you are the technically greatest batsman of modern times.I really wish you had continued for a year or so more yet I respect your decision.
To viewers this thread is about Rahul. Lets just rejoice in what he has been and not bother if Sachin or others could not attend . I am sure they must be having pressing reasons not be able to attend this fine man's farewell.
