Anyone who has some idea of what test cricket is about should watch the highlights of Sachin's 80 at SCG. This footage is available on YouTube. Apart from one edge early in this innings, the balance, footwork, control and timing during this innings were so perfect that I think that anyone who says that Tendulkar is past his prime knows nothing about cricket!

hmm. that innings was very good. did you happen to watch his innings in the ODI against australia where brett lee pinged him on the head? there was not a single stroke in that innings that suggested he was in prime form. test and ODI cricket both are difefrent, and i feel sachin is ok for tests, but out of place in a demanding ODI setup.

sachin has a very clear future vision and rubbished all those who have asked for his retirement, these are the -achievments- sachin wants to achieve, only after these comes under his belt he will think abt retiring.hehehehehe
1. atleast 3 tripple hundreds in test 2. most double hundreds in test 3. most catches in test 4. 100 50's in odi 5. 300 wickets in odi 6. a winning 100 in WC final while chasing

I always watch when Tendulkar bats. The point is that his technique today has no major flaws. I'm not sure you can say the same about VVS or even Dravid. Anyone can have a bad day, and getting hit by Brett Lee in one innings isn't a good way of rating a batsman. After all the World Cup finished only a year ago, and Tendulkar was batting very well then.

Most of the people commenting know only to comment. They may not have played first class cricket. Sachin is all by himself is a different. He is in the same class of mohammed ali or diego mardonna. His footwork, his ability to perform under pressure is amazing.

Who thinks and knows that your every action or inaction will be criticized.. Sachin must have been having the same second thought!!
How can we accepted the statements if an cricket players say he play until he have passion?
Who know when will they sell their hero honda passion bikes? It not what all India fan want, we want India win that all. But without any chennai player.

I'm confused at your stand! Do you support Karnataka and hate Tamil Nadu or hate both or make fun of both?

those r the loosers who dont want to listen others...they just need to get agreed by each and every one whatever they say...
It was still a good enough total only if our bowlers and captain had used some sense while bowling.. And remember India still could have won that match.. We just need to ask ourselves whether we would have criticized Sachin the same way, as we are doing now, if India would have won that match!!

exactly, no one talks about Irfan's, Praveen's bowling when BD needed 10 per over... a "weak" team like BD winning despite needing 10 runs an over has definitely got nothing to do with the pace at which Sachin scored his hundred... Pathan going for 19 runs in 47th or 48th over? does anyone remember that?

Agreed........ what was wrong with his batting when he scored centuries against SA and Englan in world cup. against SA we were 269 for 2 in 39 overs and were all out at a score of 296 so just 27 runs in 11 overs. Then against England we made 338 but couldnt defend that total also. I agree he played the inning very slowly but its all because of us fans and haters who put lot of pressure on him. Haters wnted him to retire for not scoring runs and also even if he scores and india loses case remains same. All fans and media wanted to see him scoring 100th century and made a very big issue out of it. I am sure no one will reach to this landmark but if someone scores 99 century i would like to see how much time wil it take to score the 100th one and how many balls will he take to complete it. In case of the match against Bangladesh, even if we would have scored 320 we would have lost considering our great bowling attack and at that time critics would have said "WHENEVER SACHIN SCORES A CENTURY WE LOSE THE MATCH".

Pointing fingers entirely on one thing (either bowling or slow batting) is bad. Sachin's slow batting AND India's poor bowling, both played a part. When you bat first, you can't assume that bowlers will take care of things and score less than what you could have scored. Bowling was pathetic, to say the least

by shantanu visen on Mar 28, 2012 03:57 PM
your comments are justified, but then also many people think that only one man should be made responsible for all this! That is where it goes wrong and then Virat also batted slowly. Only coz sachin scored a century and that too the 100th one, he has been made scapegoat for the defeat. And then after posting any total u try to defend it, here none of our bowler tried anything!!

289 is not a bad score by any standards. Sachin's strike rate was 77, so not slow for scoring a century. Anyone who saw the match could see the pathetic standard of bowling.
Looking at people's anger/reaction/frustration whatever, I think they would even pay to abuse Sachin Tendulkar... I feel its his utter badluck that Sachin is born in India where the legends, heroes, and people contributing to the nation are disrespected... Such people I am sure have not contributed one bit towards the nation... Bad luck Sachin...
