The reason he will remain under the shadows of SRT is because, 1) SRT captured our imaginations as a Young kid who had the ability to taken on the world..2) Impact of oneday cricket.. vast majority of our cricket fans follow slam bang one-day cricket than test matches..

Why you talked about M Vijay - he is throw out by Srikantha itself many time back.

Why you talked about the Ashwin? Please not got scare of him Sappandi Sirs, he is waste bowlers only because he come from Chennai.

When Srikantha is retire from Selection chef and if Gundapa return, then we all celebrate with all our Bengalurus because we can see 1 dozen player from Bengaluru at India team.

Until then, we can keep march past and salute on Dravid for play so well because he come from our Bengaluru.

retirement with grace
by divine on Mar 28, 2012 07:58 AM

Yes. Dravid retired with grace. No doubt he is one among few indian cricketer to be ever remembered for his simplicity and calmness. He was a perfect gentleman for this so called game named as Gentlemen game. Though he was slow in scoring but never let down the team at the time of crisis.Never let him temper on players and always remained cool encouraging team-mates when they were down.
Great Dravid. I will ever remain your fan FAN.A wall can be replaced by another wall in construction but in indian cricket, you are Unique WALL.
GOD BLESS.

Well said..

People here are just crazy about Sachin, and want to know why Sachin WAS at a press conference, or why Sachin WAS NOT at a press conference.. :)

But that is definitely to be expected. Sachin has become like a benchmark, like a gold standard anyway..

Even his critics compare Lara, Ponting, Bradman, Dravid, Kallis, Kohli etc. to Sachin ..

No one compares a Lara to a Dravid, or Kohli to Bradman, or Ponting to Kallis... :)

I guess Sachin's stature as a player dominates not just his fans but his critics (even more).. :)

where is the selfish sachin? was he missing coz the center of attraction is Dravid and not him.... cheap btard who wants everything for himself even though the whole of the nation supported him all these years thru thick and thin.... can't even attend a farewell party for a collegue with whom he has shared the dressing room for 15 years... how shameful can this guy be? this is what money does to the rich...

not far are the days where he will be kicked out of cricket team and will carry the bllack mark throughout his life... what's the use of building a name for 20 years and spoiling it in a couple???

Kapil did not play with Dravid nor did he share the dressing room with him. He would have made himself available if he was invited. But the point is, if you've known and worked with someone for 16 years and that someone is retiring, then youshould have been there on his farewell. That's courtesy you have for your co-worker/friend. That's sportsmenship. We are talking about gentleman's game here. And for someone like Dravid who has really served Indian cricket, the treatment should have been much more than some useless personal records.

Not sure if you can understand.

And thanks for agreeing that Kapil is NOT a gentleman just like Sachin isn't...

And please STOP having different yardsticks for different players. If Sachin was invited and didn't turn up, it's as bad as Kapil being invited and not turning up.

Anything else?
