The article states that "Justice Bean, who was hearing the case without a jury, also awarded Cairns 400,000 pounds in interim costs, which Modi will have to pay within 28 days." This writer from Rediff is such a fool that he has highlighted 90,000 pounds as headline and not 400,000 pounds which also has to be paid by Modi to Cairns besides 90,000 pounds ! 400,000 is greater than 90,000 my friend !!!

You're absolutely right bro.."He also ruled that Cairns' legal team be paid £400,000 (NZ$774,000) costs by Modi within 28 days". Modi's legal fees are estimated at over £1 million (NZ$1.9m).

"No wonder India was better governed under British Raj."
How do you know - where you there?
Loosers like you are the reason why India is where it is today. Why don't you go back to licking the gora sahib and making a quick buck and leave the caring for India to true Indians.

so you think Suresh Kalmadi , Shard Pawar , Lalu Yadav , Sonia Gandhi etc are better at governing India than the British Raj ?
Have you seen any conviction in riot cases or crimes done by politicians ?

Perhaps you have a point. Modi's arrogance spilled over into such comments which are costing him dear. Yes one gets away most of the times with such comments here. Yes our judicial system needs massive redo.

not just judicial ..even police , CBI need to be made independent and the Feudal culture of India where VVIP are somehow above the law needs to be completely changed.
These netas and babus operate like they own India and can hurt or slander any common man.
Can you imagine a politician being asked to pay even 1 lakh rupees for a mere comment in India ?
A tweet can cost you about 2.5 mil. First talking bad about anyone without proper proof can cost you. That too if you are brown and without a jury a single judge can decide your fate, imagine that. This article fails to mention that Modi produced sevaral witnesses but the judge refused all of them. They want to get his money. I am not sure if Cains done anything wrong or not. But I am talking about the judicial system in UK. There is a chance that people of color do not get proper justice in UK, still.

He is brown eyed. Just because he is rich doesn't make him blue eyed ;)
Well done London court. Sueing someone and getting compensation is unheard in India. Maybe in the heat of things, Lalit Modi must have gone awry. But he had to pay a hefty price
In addition to the 90K he also has to pay another 1.5Mill in costs!!! I thought the judge heard from Cairns' team mates that Cairns had asked them to cheat. How is it then that this British tool found Cairns' word to be more worthy than those of multiple others? Not that Modi and the other desis of the like who run away to fairer (pun intended) pastures don't deserve to get slammed - you want to lick their behind, well then you should love the taste of excrement as well.
But what irks me in this case is the apparent association of Modi's loss with India and Indians and Indian cricket and thus the casting of further disrespect against India and Indians and Indian cricket.
What are we Pakistan, that we have to listen to courts in foreign countries and rationalize foreign missile strikes? It is a sad day though because an Indian will do anything for a few more dollars and hence we will continue to face such ignominies. What boggles my mind is why is India even in the Commonwealth, but that is a gripe for another forum... Somebody who lives in India, please sue, in an Indian jurisdcition, the British judge for disrespect, bias and slander against Indians by casting doubt on the reliability of the Indian witnesses' over ths sole Kiwi's; and also include Modi and Cairns for casting shadows of disrepute on the image of Indians by washing such muck in the public domain.

This was aptly done. When an Indian brings disgrace to the country, he should be shoed by foreigners. For your sake, the matter could have come up in U.S. court.
