In a culture of batting oriented heroics the Indian team suffers from putting together a decent bowling attack for ODIs and Tests.
Ajit Wadekar's theory of using a spin trio still hold water for Tests. Back in the 70s the spin trio was world class, bowled slower through the air with flight and extracted pace and bounce from pitches all over the world. As a result Indian bowling managed to stay world class with the spin trio.
Spinners these are flat and quick and hence the spin department as gotten weaker. Dhoni has preferred Ashwin and Ohja who are good finger spinners. In addition the improvement in seam bowling has added a bit more zip.
Test match bowling attack has suffered because of 2 seamers with lack of pace and 2 spinners who are flatter and quicker through air.
With the arrival of Yadav and Varun, Dhoni has not used them properly inspite of being the fastest and his preferences for line-n-length rather than strike bowling has affected the attack where the Indian bowling attack has gone for 500-600 runs in tests.
The story in the 1-dayers is worse, PK, Vinay Kumar and now Irfan have struggled to plant their feet. Unless and until Munaf and Nehra have retired they should have used them and combined them with Vinay and Irfan. Vinay who had an excellent FC record of E/R of 4.4 before playing ODIs and adequate pace of around 137 kph got exposed and should have been shielded out with Nehra and Munaf. He started well in the CB series only to get jaded out in the end.

We do have the slowest bowler ever in our team..Irfan. The only problem is he neither swings nor spins the ball. Munaf, who started as a fast bowler initially is ironically later tried to emulate irfan in bowling slow.
such a useless fellow he was and is.............India would had definitely done better without him This proves how selfish he was and is........ the victories include Australia = 11 (all in asia only 1 in sydney) Bangladesh = 4 (all in asia) England = 3 (2 in asia 1 in england) Kenya = 4 (2 in asia 2 abroad) Namibia = 1 New Zealand = 6 (4 in asia 2 in New Zealand) Pakistan = 2 (in asia) South Africa = 4 (all in India) Sri Lanka = 8 (7 in asia 1 in england) West Indies = 3 (2 in india 2 abroad) Zimbabwe = 6 (4 in asia 2 abroad) This makes it clear that he can only play on docile Asian tracks against minnows or a hapless opposition and has ALWAYS failed when needed the most..... Most SHAMELESS EVER...........

And you worthy of only commenting in rediff. What is your achievement, if any, so far in Cricket, to comment on such a legend?

there are always some achievements that are better than the previous.. It does not mean the past achievements are waste.
Well that is no comparison. Kohli can never be in Dravid's class. He use to wareout bowlers & none in the present team has that capability. He could stay & play a pefect foil or he could score. After 2 season's with suspect technique, it may be difficult for kohli. I think, technique wise, it will be Sharma.

You are absolutely wrong. Rohit techniue is suitable for Asian pitches. His front foot is not coming forward. Kohli is better player technically

Shows u have never played even at club level or have no reading of the game...ROHIT will always suffer and only suffer because of lack of technique...Kohli is successful only bcoz he has a very sound technique..Rohit hasnt done anything substantial in even after palying almost 100 ODIs.

Correct! Kohli's body moves right behind the ball, and the transfer of weight is very sharp. That day when he was playing with Sachin, at some points, he actually looked the better batsman of the two.

i think techniq wise it vl b pujara. kohli had some suspicion initially. but rohit is much hyped n utter failure inspite of so many chances.

Agreed. Better Kohli doesnt score. I feel, instead of having Chika & other jokers, we should hire the services of an astrologer & appoint the captain based on "Kundali/Jatak" Dhoni's lady luck has gone!!

When you watch TV, India always lose. You better stop watching.

yes I agree with your statement but atleast we are in the tournament even though we loose the match when Tendulkar is the team, but it is also fact when Kohli plays we are out of the tournament even the chance of loosing the match is not applicable because all of sudden we are out of tournament when Kohli play. But atleast Tendulkar give us the chance to see the other matches of the tournament even though we loose the same.
His mouth shut for some time. Why should he compare Kohli and suggest him as replacement for Dravid? Kohli plays well no doubt, but his perseverance against good bowling attack is yet to be seen.
Allow him to perform well in foriegn pitches that are true and bouncy and then take a call. Lets not jump the gun.
Virat, you can reach places byt give up your arrogance and pride. Learn from the fact that you played 2 amazing innings, one in Hobart and one here against Pak and on both ocassions they came out to be useless for India. You are the future captain but behave like one.
