That makes no sense. The emotions displayed by the team are different from what gavaskar expects. Hence the comments. Its fair.
Owing to the failure of the team in England, Australia Dhoni (who has been riding on his luck and intuitions) should step down. He is there for long, let him play like a player now.
In fact he should take the moral responsibility of the failure.
Gavaskar is defending Indias poor performence. Why is it hard to understand ?Senior players have taken their places for granted and think they are gods with cash coming out when they fart

Yes, though I would like our team to win the cup again, I will be very surprised if they reach even semifinals looking at their performances nowadays!

Maybe he was thinking of the England-India matches held during Oct-2011.
Our worst cricket tours of England & Australia are witnessed by us and expressed with communities like "I was alive when India was twice whitewashed overseas" which our media religiously deletes.... Wonder what more do we need to witness, maybe a whitewash in the Asia cup as well!! If that happens, I will quit watching cricket!

Contd... And Gavaskar is 100% true in this case. We let go of the match from MCG when we lost 8 wickets for some 30-40 runs..... This series loss is worse than England where there were injuries to many players.

we dont have to tell like that because in future also india will get white washed in the foreign soil.Because indian's are not use to seeming and boucny pitches in AUS, Eng and SA. Until BCCI prepares some good bouncy and seeming track in india so that indians can belive that they are able to play in foreign soil. With the present statistics india will not able to defend their title in 2015 WC

Ya, but i believe they should have pitches that assist pace/swing/bounce for practice only. But for visitors, we need to torment with deadly spin tracks! Afterall, they dont "help" us with flat tracks, do they? And which team can be a "good" one without doing well in all type of tracks?
