Kapil himself was not aware when to retire and extended his career with his poor bowling last few years. He prolonged his career to break Hadlee's record of 431 wickets & announced retirement next test fearing board would drop him later.
He is one selfish guy who disturbs the harmony of the team by chosing/not chosing the tour of his interest. He is always vulnerable when it comes to his personal records. Remember his milestone of highest run getter in Test where he took hell a lot of innings despite the margin was too less. After world cup He wanted his ton of tons to be achieved in the Lords (selfish attitude) and hence avoided the West Indies tour (a weak team and also grounds will be empty in Caribbean islands where he did not want to score 100). He failed miserably in England (due to over hype and stress). He is something aiming for bigger venues so that he gets a better applaud from the world and media. He might have opted for this challenge in achieving his milestone but ultimately team has suffered a lot due to his mental blockage. Had he finished his ton in WI or in Home series, he could have focused well in Australian tour so that Team India could have capitalized the first ever series win Aussie soil. Now his confidence is shattered which is not good for the team (credit to Aussies to analyse him and got him out in all the innings). He himself said a decade ago that he quits when he not performing. Its time he has to go.

Cricket India is encouraged to come up with reasons like, matches were fixed, Aussies hate Indians, It was not 100% induus team, The hawans were not performed right, Lord Cricketshna was not worshipped properly and the list goes one. Also please feel free to blame all the losses on Pathan and Javed. That is why we sent them with you because induuuds are nothing but twice born and perfect. And "Bharat Mutton" for Tandoorkar.
This captivating cricket game captures the carefree classes of coronet clad clummsy peoples,no matter the lesser number plays , nor does it nullifies empty empirical enthusiasms in narcissistic fans,never..
Sachin is a much better assesser of himself than anyone else. People have cried for his retirement from 2004 or so, but in vain. Nowadays, it has become a fashion statement to call for someone's retirement. Afterall, that is how one can get SOME publicity :)
