my fav umpires in terms of decision making and umpiring demeanour are: asad rauf, aleem dar , simon taufel and rod tucker. some of the others are in the elite panel to fill-in the officiating list, including the entry of nigel llong. also in my opinion, indian umpire amiesh saheba was a good umpire until a few years back but he was never selected in the elite panel.
he used to decide himself all close decisions very confidently and, more importantly, with accuracy without asking the third umpire. You can't find his class with any of the present umpires.

venkat was a very good umpire indeed, another indian umpire was saheba who was good and could've made it to the elite list, but was never considered
We earn billions in T20, IPL, selling marketing rights, revenues.
But wait a minute. Now listen the respect we get as a country with cricketing acumen of UMPIRES. NONE NONE NONE NONE
Cheers. Let us again waste our valuable time for a menaningless series in Srilanka, and feel our selves pround in knowing BCCI is the richest cricket body of the world.
BUT................ With poorest credentials in cricketing sense.

not true, barring a few names (rauf, dar, taufel and tucker) the umpires on the list are nothing special.
