Two teams of Past had a Dominating Era to their names. West Indies (1975 to 1995) & Australia (1996 to 2008). During these period these 2 Teams were literally unbeatable. Nowadays anybody can beat any team. England who were officially ranked Number 1 Test team are making a mokery of the Number 1 status against S.Africa. India had already made a mokery of their Number 1 status in the past by getting white-washed in England & Australia. S.Africa, who would be crowned Number 1 after the current England-S.Africa series is yet to be Tested & their true test would be once they gain the Number 1 spot. As India & England would have realized that its okay to get to Number 1 Spot in Test but maintaining that spot is one heck of a Task & it takes a strong Character & both failed in this aspect. The Aussie dominating era is finally Over & they now look as a Team who can loose against minows Bangladesh very often. Acid Test for S.Africa for the next 1 year once they are crowned the New Number 1 after the current England series. Can they justify the Number 1 Crown or would they face the same fate of India & England after getting Crowned Number 1 remains to be seen. in any game people generally remember and respect the reigning number one in any kind of game. there is no headache for number 12 or 21 to the public. In fact both, sachin and zaheer are gone case, and indian selectors should try their best to find a suitable replacement of these two greats.

Without any prejudice I should mention that whatever or whatsoever legends - sachin & zaheer- are, they are now spent force and they should retire gracefully. I am at a loss to understand as to why Cricket board keep on selecting them - any reasons other than cricket.

Yes their is the reason. I hope you have seen in second ODI vs Srilanka 138 all out. that's the reason. Sachin is all time great and i am telling you now you will not find a batsmen like Sachin so enjoy as long he is playing. He has made country proud by his cricket. When he retires you will see the score of 138, 95, 100 nothing else.

I don't understand, if they are performing better that every other Indian Batsman or bowler, why should they retire ? Just becoz of sick people like you who cannot understand the value of success. Would you leave your Job or business, even if you are doing better than others, just becoz you are performing there for long time ? Stop commenting silly and cheer others to do better than them.

Subrata, In team games, people remember names of all the team members of the team. Even if you are talking about no 1 then Tendulkar and Zaheer are present no 1's of Indian Team. So, relax and wait for someone to go ahead of them. And learn to respect no 2's also becoz together they make a winning team.
SACHIN IS ALWAYS INDIA'S PRIDE. HOW LONG INDIANS STAY LAZY AND DEPEND ON ONLY ONE PERSON. ALL SHOULD PLAY LIKE SACHIN. THEN INDIA IS NO.1 IN ALL SPORTS.

I love his batting but he can't be called GOAT as he is nowhere in comparism to Bradman. Even there are Richards, Sobers and few other better or equal than him so he do not deserver to be GOAT.
England was never deserving of the 'Number 1' Crown. If the Alarms werent ringing for them in Dubai during their 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Pakistan then it should be certainly ringing now after the humiliation that S.Africa is inflicting. At the end of England-Africa series S.Africa would be crowned the New World Number 1 Test team & derservingly so. Teams like England show Indians no Mercy & prepare Green grass fast Track coz they know that Indians cant play well on these Seamer Tracks. They take advantage of their home conditions. England dare not prepare Green tracks against South Arica for the ongoing 2nd & 3rd Test or else Steyn & Company would Chop them off with their sheer pace & South Africa would white-wash arrogant England. Where are Ian Botham, Darren Gough hiding their faces who predicted that England are the strongest team at present & no other team even comes near to them...haha.. Wot a joke!! Next Destination of Humiliation for this Arrogant over-hyped England Team is the Spin friendly Tracks in 'India'.
