Irfan Pathan
by sriraam subramaniam on Aug 12, 2012 07:04 PM

This gifted all-rounder should have been given his due long back.I wonder why others not so talented as Pathan was given chances.God only knows the mind of selectors and BCCI Bosses.

All the best Irfan for World Cup 20 Matches in Sri Lanka. Come with flying colours and let your leather and willow talk which would silence your critics.

INDIAN BOWLING STILL "WORK IN PROGRESS"
by damodaran mohan on Jul 23, 2012 03:28 PM

Besides batting coming good , the single biggest positive on the bowling front of course is Irfan Pathan getting back his old rhythm of ‘swings’ and that extra ‘pace’ not seen in recent times. In fact Irfan looked unplayable in the first couple of overs and with little bit of luck he could have easily got couple of more wickets and put SL in real trouble. If only he could maintain this level of performance he can only get better from here on then the no.7 puzzle gets resolved somewhat. Ashwin was also equally menacing right from the word go flighting and turning the ball pinning down the SL batsmen completely. It was good to see him not resort to any negative tactics of bowling out side the leg–stump line. Ojha on the other needs to further perk up a bit. Zaheer started well but soon lost the ‘control’ looking very ‘ordinary’ at times. As the lead bowler Zaheer is expected to deliver better. In the past Zaheer at least was very good in finishing off the tail but that has gone missing too ! Umesh Yadabv looks good but invariably starts ‘straying’ in line and length. Wonder what the coach and experts must tell him to improve on the run splurge ? May be he should take more time or ‘pause’ in between two consecutive deliveries and try to be more consistent. Being the most promising bowler for India he has to work hard and improve on his death overs bowling if India is to win matches.

Dont fully agree with Akram this time. Pathan is good, but he was already given a long rope and even on returning in Australia & Asia cup, he did not do well. How longer a rope does he want?

And I am really curious about Balaji's performance this time. His inclusion came as a bolt from the blue.....!

May be such longer rope with which India can bind both Pakistan and China.

Good one Shikari....

FYI, we gave both long ropes and long sticks to Irfan; and he knows that.

Why Akram is spending more time in India than his own land? Why is he commenting on Pathan?BCCI & Selectors in India are wise enough. They do not want your advice.Cricket Pakistan does not recognize you,why u r here?

bhajji is better choice than Irfan in tests as he has 2 centuries. He is off form since world cup, but class is permanant and form is temporary..
