Harbhajan's days are over
by sunil pachgade on Jul 20, 2012 02:51 PM

Indian selectors have been lauding on the previous achievements of Bhajii... Plenty waiting in line like Chawla,Amit Mishra,Pragyan which needs longer ropes...This year IPL have clearly exposed Harbhajan

Its funny... Mediocre Bowlers like Prasad who didn't have the Pace of even Anil Kumble figured in the Indian Bowling line up in the Past. Wonder what Shoaib Akhtar has to say about Prasad's Pace!! Bring back Sreesanth. Indian team needs such fiercy Characters who can get to the Batsman's Nerves :-)

were good spinners but nobody has still figured out why they ran in from such long distance

harbajan s selection into probables is also a mystery no wickets in domestic matches no wickets in county matches ..yet being considered for India Team !!!!!

venkatesh was a slow medium pacer whereas srinath was medium pace..sometimes he used to bowl real fast..as for Bhajji he forgot the art of spinning..but trying hard.

Have to say that Srinath did have a ominous inswinger though.

The one which got Kirsten bold few times.

if you are talking about gary kirsten, he was a left hander. which means srinath, right hander, should have had an ominous outswinger, which i dont think he had. if you ae talking about peter kirsten, gary's half brother, i dont think srinath got him out with inswingers very often... #justsaying.

err, what am i supposed to check here? that incoming deliveries by right handed bolwers to left handed batsmen would actually be an outswinger to the bowler? i dont need to check that. its common sense. and you are welcome!

no problem.

take your time and reconfirm whether Srinath has ever got Kirsten bold with an swinging delivery.

Note that I am not interested in relation between the Kirsten brothers.

i definitely dont claim the srinath hasnt got kirsten bowled with a swinging delivery. the point in debate is whether, as you claimed, srinath has an ominous inswinger when in fact you described his outswinger to kirsten. anyway, i dont want to argue with you since you repeatedly avoid coming to the point and drag the discussion to a topic that was never a debate in the first place.

gowdre, i know ur too intelligent.Inswingers to right handers will be away going deliveries to left handers, in that case.. srinath would have got GK bowled from an away going delivery.

Srinath was a very good bowler guys...He had a very good in-swinger and used to give 100% while on field. Though the people didn't used his services well apart from Ganguly

Prasad atleast had the stamina to bowl for 20-2 overs in a day, whereas ur rawalpind express used to get tired in the 3rd ball of his 3rd over itself:).

Finger spinner vs Wrist spinners
by Ravi on Jul 20, 2012 11:54 AM  | Hide replies

Finger spinners:
Harbhajhan, Murali, Bedi, Saqlain Mushtaq

Wrist spinners:
Shane warne, Anil Kumble,Abdul Qadir, Stuart McGill.

Genrally wrist spinners have longer life I think. Of course Murali was an exception here.

Finger spinners can turn the ball sharply.

Wrist spinners usually decieve on flight of delivery.

Again Shane warne was an exception here.

Maybe thats why Warne and Murali are best spinners in modern cricket era.

Re: Re: Finger spinner vs Wrist spinners

Thats because Venkatesh Prasad was running in fast but bowling a spin instead.

So someone had to compensate on the fast bowling side.

I think Kumble's broad shoulders and stocky build helped to add that extra pace at times. Nevertheless this trick only worked in his favour outside India.

Bring back Harbhajan..
by Santhanam on Jul 20, 2012 10:29 AM  | Hide replies

India needs Harbhajan Singh for the Revenge Series coming up against England & Australia this year end... Harbhajan along with Ashwin would form a deadly attack for both England & Australia who are very weak against SPIN. India should prepare perfect 'SPIN Friendly' Tracks & whitewash both these Teams for a 'Perfect Revenge'.

With the present state of the team in foreign tours, it is enough if we beat them in atleast 1 match or manage to draw a couple of matches.
"Perfect revenge" is not winning on our track and calling ourselves #1.

England who is currently Number 1 got 'Whitewashed' in Abu Dhabi by a lowly ranked Pakistan team. They are going to be whitewashed 4-0 again when they visit India in Sep-Oct as 'SPIN Friendly' Tracks are awaiting them & they cant plan SPIN even in the next 100 years. Same would be the fate for the Depleted & Loosers Australia when they visit India in December. This is the fate of all the Present Teams. They are Lions at home & Lambs Abroad. Atleast India, England & S.Africa are 'Unbeatable' at home unlike other teams.

@Vaidya: Who said that they can win on their own tracks and call themselves #1? That rule applies to everyone.

PS: I would like to see India winning overseas and call ourselves #1, not winning on flat tracks only. I speak from an Indian point of view and not like Abhijit Nair or PNB or Devajagat to demean our team and praise other teams. Hope it is clear.
