Its not about replacement...
by senthil on Jul 15, 2012 08:10 AM  | Hide replies

not sure y ppl consider age and WC win as a criteria to retire. U guys need to play the sport to understand what Sach means by love for the game. As long as sachin can prove that he is one among the top 7 batsman in the country, he deserves a place in the team. Its very simple selection criteria, select the best 7 batsman in the country for the tour and not for future. Try and concentrate on the present rather than dreaming of future.
He is a national treasure and the joy he brings to everyone while on the crease is something special. So lets just hope he continues long...

his problem. He has to play whether he likes it or not.If he announced retirement he need to repay the amount to advertisers. They will force him to play and ensure his place is secured in the team. So don't even think of Sachin retiring till 2015.

cricket is being played a team of 11. Why sacchin should retire. just for though leander pace is still playing for inida at the ga of 41 . When he is batting on, no oppsotion team take him easly for get about his hundreds, his scoring is @100% strike rate. In tests every time he goes on to filed 50 runs easly expected of him. from the current team no one can come closer this level consitancy from rest of team.

Dear Sanjeev, I am also trying to emphasize the fact that I am not for forcing him out or some thing like that. If he continue to play at 50% potential he is better than most.About age I am not worried at all. I have seen Gooch,Boycott and Alec Stewart batting well in their 42nd year.I feel that he is indispensable for commercial reasons and pray that he plays well till the end.But the time has come to think of a suitable if not better replacement ready for the eventuality by grooming one or two prospects and treat them well.Give them chances in between along with him to instill confidence and gain form.
I hope many of you agree with that.

Retirement.
by Manoj Adwani on Jul 15, 2012 01:17 AM  | Hide replies

Why do some great sportsmen find it difficult as to when to announce their retirement. This has happened to many. As one great sportsmen had once said about retirement that people should ask "Why?" and not "Why not?". One should always retire when they are still on top like Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid. However people like Ganguly, Dravid and Kumble should not have been playing even in IPL after retirement

Why not IPL after retirement? It is not for the nation that they are playing in IPL.

Retirement Time pls
by nagal RIZU on Jul 15, 2012 12:31 AM

ANYHOW SACHIN IS NOT OT RETIRE ANY TOME SOON, I DONT KNOW Y HE IS SO SELF FISH TO MAKE TONS OF RUNS AS IF NOB0DY SHOULD EVER REACH HIS RUNS. (E.G FOR THIS IS ,SEHWAG RECORD OF 219 INSTEAD OF SACHIN) HE HIMSELF HAVE TO THINK THAT HE HAS A LOT WITH CRICKET, SO HE SHOULD STOP CRICKET & GIVE OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUNGSTERS. DONT AFRAID OF INDIAN YOUNGSTERS TALENT, AS THEY WILL PRODUCE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TENDULKARS. HE HAS EARNED A LOT WITH THIS GAME. EVEN HE SCORES A CENTURY IN WHOLE YEAR, DOESN'T MATERIALISE HIM/BCCI. BCCI MEMBERS HAVE TO KICK HIM OUT OF TEAM & GIVE OPPORTUNITY TO YOUNGSTERS.

Its time to Go , Sachin

Kapil Dev is the greatest all rounder India Produced. After his retirement, We have not able to Produce any All rounder with even 25% of his caliber.
So that means He should have continued till now?
Obviously , no . right?

So the ready replacement is there or not?
If your time is up, you have to retire.

Game must go on. New players come. Search continues.

I am afraid, He is not planning for World cup 2015 !!!!! :)

Why doesn't Sachin move up to #3
by Sameer Bhagwat on Jul 14, 2012 08:59 PM  | Hide replies

Or to the opener's slot as Dravid has done innumerable times? He has been an opener in ODIs for 100s of matches but at test level he never opens. Why? To be "safe" at #4? We don't need another Dravid or Sachin or Laxman as replacements. What we need is a bunch of well grounded batsmen who can field well and build partnerships when they bat.

Yeah true and that, while dravid's farewell was going on, that too in Mumbai itself, this S UM was missing, now he says, he is missing. We want to get rid of this politician first in our team. Let him join to Kalmadi team and tour London olympics.
